Hello, I am following the directions on how to properly setup a promiscuous port on a private vlan that allows communication between the two associated community ports. I am unable to add more than one secondary vlan in the interface and the manual clearly says it's possible so I must be missing some nuance. VLAN Type Configuration 20 - Primary 21 - Community 22 - Community Private VLAN Association Primary 20 --- Secondary 21-22 --- Community 21-22 Port Mode Configuration I8 - Promiscuous (LAG) Private VLAN Promiscuous Interface Configuration Here is page 180 of the manual under: Private VLAN promiscuous interface: Assign the interface to primary and secondary VLANs ... ... 9. In the Promiscuous Primary VLAN field, specify a primary VLAN ID. You can select a VLAN for which you configured the type as Primary (see Assign a private VLAN type to a VLANonpage171). 10. In the Promiscuous Secondary VLAN field, specify one or more secondary VLAN IDs. You can specify VLANs for which you configured the type as Isolated or Community, both of which are secondary VLAN types within a private VLAN. You can specify a single VLAN ID, a range of VLAN IDs, or a combination of both in sequence separated by a comma (,): You can specify an individual VLAN ID, such as 10. You can specify the VLAN range values separated by a hyphen, for example, 10-13. • You can specify a combination of both separated by commas, for example: 12,15,40–43,1000–1005, 2000. ERROR Error: Value (0) is out of range for 'Promiscuous Secondary VLAN'. The valid range is 2 to 4095. I have tried to add 2 secondary vlans with the comma approach 21,22 and with the hyphen approach and both give the same error. The Secondary VLAN field only accepts 1 vlan so how do you configure a promiscuous port in a private vlan?Netgear Discovery Tool 2.0.4 Will Not Allow Connection Selection
I can't connect to a ProSafe switch at all because the Netgear Discovery Tool will not allow me to select a connection to scan. On top of that, the default IP of the switch is not 192.168.0.329 (even after factory reset) and the ProSAFE Plus Utility doesn't run no matter how I try to engage it. Windows 11, for what it's worth (I saw the .NET 4.6 install req on the PPU, but that won't install because it says I have a newer version already).Netgear GS105e mismatch
Starting the cable tester it gives a mismatch (Cable Fault Distance 6 meters) at port 1. The other cables are OK. After replacing the networkcable between the switch and my router (Sagemcom F3896LG) the same problem. Even when the networkcable is the only one in the switch. Please help Cable Tester Port Test Results Cable Fault Distance (meters) 1 Mismatch 6 2 OK 3 OK 4 OK 5 No CableSolvedUse ProSafe switch as unmanaged?
This is probably a very niche setup request, but I am looking to acquire a gently used 48 port unmanaged switch for home use. I currently have a D-Link 24 port unmanaged switch, which still works fine after many years, but I'm out of ports and I don't want to daisy chain switches together to be able to add more ethernet runs. I do have 2 POE devices at this point, both using injectors, so if a new-to-me 48 port switch had POE also, that would be a plus (but not a hard requirement). So, I see Netgear makes a product to fit the bill, a GS348PP, but I'm not looking to shell out hundreds of dollars for a brand new unit, especially when there are plenty of good condition, used ProSafe switches out there on eBay, for around $100 or less. So, can I scoop up a gently used ProSafe switch on eBay and just turn off ALL of the smart management features? I don't have any need for VLAN's and all of the other alphabet soup features that come with it (most of which I don't understand). I have a very simple home network setup, and I'm not looking to become a network engineer at this point in my life. The closest thing I found to an answer was on page 11 of an S3300 Stackable Smart Switch manual where it says "The NETGEAR switch functions as a simple switch without the management software." And that's it - it doesn't describe further on how to actually accomplish that. Would I get a used unit from eBay and just factory reset it, and then never log into the management GUI, and call it a day at that? Thanks in advance for any advice.Solved
