orbi 870 series
24 TopicsUpgrading to 870 from RBR53 (Orbi AC3000 )
My current router is now considered EOL so looking to move to a Orbi 870. I'm wondering if it is possible to export the configuration from the old router and import it to the new one? I know a lot has changed, but it'd make configuration easier. Thanks in advance.18Views0likes2CommentsAttached Devices list shows for about a day then is not available on web app for RBE871

Hi Friends. I am a Netgear Orbi Newbie. I have just recently bought the 3 pack Orbi 870. I live in Perth, Australia. I upgraded from a much older system that did not allow me to stream 4K video from my QNAP SSD NVME harddrive to my computer. it was too slow. However, its still slow even with this upgrade. I have the RBE 871 router with three 870 satellites. It works fine, but the devices farthest away - outdoor cameras - have the weakest connections. I'd rather not pay for yet another satellite, and am wondering if the Netgear Range Extenders would work for me. I see several on Amazon: EXS25, EAX15, EAX12, EX6120 ... any advice on which one would work best with my existing mesh system? Thanks in advance.20Views0likes2CommentsDevice blocking does not work on 870
I have an 870 system with router firmware V10.5.20.4_1.3.5. Device blocking does not work properly. The only time it worked is when I set a device to be blocked and happen to restart the router. When I went to unblock it, I also had to restart the router for that to work. In the web UI, nothing works at all. I browse to Advanced >> Security >> Access Control. When I select a device and hit "Block" I get a pop-up that says "Do you really want to block access to selected device(s)?" I hit OK and then the page reloads and the same exact device still says "Allowed" next to it. In the iOS app, the device will turn red but that is not reflected in the UI and has no affect. When I inspect what is happening with dev tools, I see a HTTP POST request to /dniapi/accessControl with the following payload: acl_enable=1&acl_default_policy=allow&display_allow_no_connect_sta=&display_block_no_connect_sta=&sub_list%5Bindex%5D=0&sub_list%5Bdevice_name%5D=&sub_list%5Bmac_addr%5D=&sub_list%5Bacl_strategy%5D=&sub_list%5Btype%5D=add&acl_strategy=0&action=save Here is a pretty format: acl_enable: 1 acl_default_policy: allow display_allow_no_connect_sta: "" display_block_no_connect_sta: "" sub_list: index: 0 device_name: "" mac_addr: "" acl_strategy: "" type: add acl_strategy: 0 action: save Then the UI does a GET request to get the device list and my device still has: "acl_strategy": "allow", in the JSON response. Having to reboot the router for these settings to work is a subpar experience. Is this a known bug or is there a workaround without having to reboot the router to block and un-block devices?131Views0likes29CommentsShare your Orbi BE370/770/870/970 Series System UpTime
Found on the RBR and RBS IP address/debug.htm web page for best details, please post both RBR and RBS uptime. Please note of any inconsistencies between the RBR and RBS. Generally the RBR and RBS uptime should be same. Home wide power brown outs should be noted if these are seen. Thank you.2.4KViews0likes17CommentsNOTICE: RBE770 and RBE870 Series FW Released - 9/2025

To view your router’s user manual, visit https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBE871.aspx#docs IF MANUALLY UPDATING THE SYSTEM: Be sure to update the RBS FIRST, then the RBR lastly. Please navigate to the link below for step-by-step instructions on how to update your RBR871/RBS870: Proceedure to Manually Firmware Update Orbi and Nighthawk Mesh systems I HIGHLY recommend after the FW is loaded on the system and it's back to ready, power OFF all Orbi units and the ISP modem/ONT for 1 minute. Then back ON with the ISP modem/ONT first, then RBR then RBS. NOTE: Orbi app or the routers web page may not report seeing new FW updates. NG may not push this to there auto update services immediately and may activate the newer FW update being seen on there auto update services at a later time. User will have the choice to manually update if you want too. FW UPDATE ALL Feature: If there is a FW updated seen on the RBRs web page and all RBS are online and connected with GOOD STATUS, you can select the UPDATE ALL button option to have the RBR update the RBS and RBR. Update All button is seen on the RBRs Firmware Update WEB page on the Check for Updates FW section of the page. Once FW has been checked for an update and all devices show the FW update is available, select the UPDATE ALL button. Give 5 minutes for the process to take place. Recommend powering OFF the Orbi system for 1 minute then back ON with the RBR first then RBS after Update All completes. Give 5-10 minutes for system to fully come to ready. NOTE: If continued problems are seen after a FW update, it's recommended to try a factory reset and setup from scratch with out loading any saved configurations from backup files. Use the ERASE button on the routers web page to factory reset the router: This sends a Factory Reset command to any and all connected RBS as well: Procedure for Factory Reset of RBE870 series systems use ERASE Button This article applies to: Orbi (7) RBE870 RBE870B RBE871 RBE871B RBE872 RBE873 RBE873B Let us know how it works for you...Please make a new post regarding any problems your seeing in the Orbi BE support forums. Curious if anyone still gets this issue. I have orbi 870. The satellite in question is one floor below ~25 feet away. I know the suggestion is +30 but this is where it has to go for now. It oscillates between good and poor although no noticeable performance issues when it says poor. That said, it's driving me crazy!52Views0likes5Comments
