Orbi and Private Relay on iOS and MacOS
We are in the process of trying to upgrade from an older Orbi RBR50v2 setup to a new RBE371 wifi 7 system. The main reason is that Private Relay from iCloud+ stopped recently working and we have to turn it off for our devices and apps to make it out onto the internet. I thought by upgrading to the newest system and standards it would solve the issue, but we're still having the same issue and have to disable Private Replay on both iPhones and Macs to be able to receive data. This is a new and recent issue. We've tested at other houses with the same ISP but different equipment and Private Relay works fine. Is Orbi no longer compatible with Private Relay?RBE 371 wifi speeds
I was using a Orbi RBR40, I set up my new RBE371 with two sats and set up was easy. I have Spectrum gig internet. I got a slight bump (300mps to 430mps) in download speed, upload is about 40 now as opposed to 10 previously. Orbi app says the router is running at or over a gig coming in. Spectrum app says the modem is receiving a gig or more speed. Wifi is not near those speeds. I know I can connect to ethernet and probably attain a gig, and I may never see a gig over wifi, but I should be closer than 400mps right? For this test I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro 2018. Orbi firmware is v12.1.2.7 Are there router settings I should check to obtain faster speeds? How can I tell what speed the receiving WiFi is capable of achieving? (I don't doubt that some of the things connected wirelessly to my router are older and may not be able to transmit at a gig) Any assistance would be appreciated. MikeCan an old RBS50Y be used with a newer 370 mesh system?
I have an old Orbi RBR50 system with a couple of RBS50 satellites and an outdoor RBS50Y. I need the outdoor coverage for security elements positioned quite a way from the main building. Netgear have discontinued support for the RBR50 which means I now need to upgrade to either a 370 or 770 system, but still need to utilise an outdoor connection. As there doesn’t seem to be an equivalent WiFi 7 outdoor solution, can I still use the older RBS50Y with the newer system? Is there a compatibility matrix available? I've just purchased and installed an RBE371. Current firmware. After a couple of days, I disabled Armor because it was blocking a LOT of websites incorrectly. Now I find that my router is still blocking some websites, and I cannot find any way to unblock these. I presume I could reactivate Armor and unblock them, but that is not an acceptable solution. I have looked in both the Orbi app and in the router web login. No joy in either place. BTW, I have confirmed that the problem is with the Orbi product by connecting my PC and phone to another Internet connection (hotspot on my phone, with my phone's WiFi turned off). There are ZERO problems when I bypass the Netgear product(s). I have also ruled out DNS problems by trying various public DNS servers. (e.g., OpenDNS and others.) Can anyone tell me how to whitelist websites without Armor turned on? Does such a feature exist? Thanks for any help you can offer. (BTW, I'm a telecom engineer. I understand how this stuff works, so I have not gone into exhaustive technical detail. It's not needed. Let's keep it simple - I just need to whitelist blocked sites.)
