i've been having a very odd issue with my orbi router's ethernet/lan ports for some months now.. it took me a while to even figure out what the common factor was (devices connected to router via ethernet). i'm not sure even how to describe it but basically: when trying to download "large" files (> 30mb maybe? not large in modern terms :) ), the download always begins but quickly times out and fails to complete. if i try to download smaller files (a web page) then the download completes correctly. the thing which confuses me (i'm quite ignorant about these things), is that watching streamed tv shows on my appletv, for example, works fine over ethernet... BUT trying to connect my appletv to protonvpn always fails (but it works when the appletv is connected via wifi). i eventually got to a point where i figured it had to be faulty ethernet ports on my RBRE960, so i bought a brand new RBRE960.. exactly same model etc.. and... i still have the same issue. i've replaced all the cables (all are cat6), done multiple factory resets over the months, i've talked to the ISP (i have a ONT1 fibre modem).. i've tried macs, raspberry pi, appletvs, synology nas, etc.. all the same issue. here's what i get when i try to download a 55.4mb file over wifi.. everything is fine: and this is what i get when i try ethernet (this one is connected to the 2.5 port, but it's exactly the same behaviour with the other 3 ports.. no other device is connected via ethernet).. it starts ok: then speed drops to 0 after a few seconds: and stays like that.. i grabbed this screenshot after a minute, but trust me, the avg dload speed just keeps dropping, time left keeps climbing and current speed goes on at zero: this issue caused all my synology hyper backups to fail for a month or two until i figured it out, so i guess it occurs with sending data too. just to reiterate: everything works over wifi. anyone else seen anything like this?! :) cheers, MikeShare your Orbi 350, 750, 850 or 960 series system UpTime
Found on the routers and RBS IP address/debug.htm web page for best details, please post both RBR and RBS uptime. Please note of any inconsistencies between the RBR and RBS. Hi all, We currently have a guest staying with us who is using an iPhone 15 Plus, and they’re experiencing significant connectivity issues on our Orbi RBKE963B system. The link speed fluctuates wildly—from around 150Mbps down to as low as 2Mbps—and in some cases, the connection drops entirely. Interestingly, no other devices on the network (including other Apple products) are having any issues. As a temporary workaround, I’ve moved the guest’s device to the IoT network and configured that network to operate on 5GHz only with WPA2. This has helped stabilize the connection somewhat. After reading through the forums, I’ve noticed that some of the newer Orbi WiFi 7 systems have recently received firmware updates that reportedly address similar issues with newer iPhones. Same here, I have a RBRE960 and 2 satellites. Purchased it in May 2023, worked always fine till last week, when I had a power failure, did a reset and restarted the modem, router, and satellites as described...... no results. The router shows a white light and starts blinking. After a minute or so it shows no light and doesn't do anything. The 2 satellites are connected to the router via WIFI and work still fine, with good stable internet. But I can't connect or reinstall the app and connect to the router. Looks like something is wrong with one of the internet frequencies. After doing a speed test from my computer, it looks like the speed is only 60% of the speed before. Contacting Netgear in the Netherlands doesn't work, if you are outside the 2 years warranty (one can buy a new service contract, but I would like to contact them first and discuss what the issue can be. any help is welcome! Hello community, I have been reading the forums actively and read a lot of concerns. Here is my 2 cents, Use firmware version: 7.2.6.31 for the best experience and functionality. Please Netgear, I have the RBRKE964B x2 There's units are not cheap. I found that disabling all logging and then performing a full power cycle of my 963 system—a step I came across in the post linked below (which discusses BE systems)—resulted in a significant performance improvement in my setup, allowing me to have a mucher longer uptime before needing to reboot for system stability. I was also encountering a connectivity issue with certain devices after 5–8 days, which required a full system reboot to resolve. After disabling logging, that issue seems to have been resolved as well. I have an ORBI 963 and have the same issues. The latest firmware 7.2.6.31 works great, but the system upgraded to the newest firmware 7.2.7.15 - and that's when the problem started. This is a report of a newly encountered issue with my Orbi RBKE963 (1 router + 2 satellites) running latest 7.2.7.15 firmware: After making IP reservation changes/additions and router rebooting, the router refuses to connect to browser at the designated IP address, and Orbi phone app reports "We can't find your Orbi" or "Unable to connect to router" This issue was observed immediately after the IP reservation list was edited. System configuration: Router: Orbi RBKE963 (RBRE960 + 2xRBSE960) 7.2.7.15 firmware installed in router & satellites Router LAN IP address set to 192.168.0.1 Satellite #1 IP address set to 192.168.0.2 Satellite #2 IP address set to 192.168.0.3 Router DHCP IP address range set to 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199 Client computers: ASUS ROG Strix Z690-I Gaming, and several other PCs with Gigabit/2.5G Ethernet Windows 11 Pro 24H2 64-bit or Windows Server 2025 Standard Edition OS Microsoft Edge browser in use Apple MacBook Pro 14" (M2 Pro) macOS 15.5 Sequoia Safari & Chrome browsers in use Client phone: Apple iPhone SE 3rd generation iOS 18.5 Orbi app installed Steps to Reproduce: On PC client connected to router via Ethernet, open a browser and verify proper access router admin via 192.168.0.1. Also verify Orbi phone app can access the router from phone. Navigate to LAN Setup -> IP reservations. Manually add entries to IP reservation list. Click Apply. Router will reboot. After router completes reboot, verify clients connected via Ethernet or WiFi have proper internet access Open browser to 192.168.0.1 again to access router admin page. Observe the error "192.168.0.1 refused to connect". Launch Orbi phone app. Observe error screen displaying "We can't find your Orbi" Note: Steps 3 & 4 may need to be repeated before issue occurs. Expected behavior: Router should continue to respond to browser at 192.168.0.1 or Orbi phone app Actual behavior: Router remains functional (Ethernet & WiFi) but browser & Orbi phone app both fail to connect to router for admin. Impact: Complete loss of admin ability with router refusing to communicate with PC or phone client attempting to access admin pages. Frequency: Occurs nearly every time the IP address reservation list is edited. Troubleshooting: Once this issue occurs, the only way I found to regain admin ability is to issue hard reset by holding down reset button on the router, then go through router setup and restore from backup file. "Refused to connect" will easily return again after any changes (especially additions) are made to the IP reservation list and the router reboots afterwards. I even tried making small IP reservation changes, rebooting router, saving a backup file, then repeating, but after about a dozen IP address reservations are added, after the router reboots the issue hits and I lose access to the admin pages and so cannot finish adding all the IP reservations I need. From what I can tell, this issue started occurring after router/satellite firmware got updated to 7.2.7.15. Issue was not observed with router/satellite running previous firmware 7.2.6.21 or older. I will thus claim that this issue is induced by a firmware bug newly introduced in 7.2.7.15. I have tried manually flashing the router with same 7.2.7.15 firmware but it made no difference. I have not tried flashing back to 7.2.6.21 but will consider doing so if it can restore persistent admin access.SolvedOrbi AXE11000 RBRE960 firmware issue with Synology NAS
I just noticed that my ORBI 960 is no longer allowing access to my Synology DS 220 NAS. It seems like this behavior started around February or March of 25. I have automation on my PC that backs up multiple users to the NAS and reports on the status of these events. I noticed today that the backups have been failing since April. These have been working flawlessly since I installed the ORBI in August of 23. I think this may have something to do with the latest firmware upgrade for the ORBI. My Network looks like this: ATT Modem BGW320-500 which is feeding the ORBI. The NAS device was connected directly into one of the ethernet ports on the ORBI. I have a GS305 switch connected to another port on the ORBI. This switch feeds yet another GS205 switch. When I try and ping the NAS device I get some strange returns: Pinging "Ip Address of NAS" Reply from "IP address of PC": Destination host unreachable .. .. .. Ping statistics for "Ip address of NAS" Packets sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 I tried moving the ethernet connection from the back of the ORBI to the GS305 switch and received the same ping messages I swapped the GS305 with the GS205 and there was no difference. I then moved the NAS drive from my network room and connected it to the GS205 switch in my office and the results of the ping are Reply from "Ip Address of NAS" bytes =32 time < 1ms TTL=64 I am now able to access the NAS drive as before with the NAS drive applications. Although this is a workable solution, I would rather have the NAS in the network room with the other network gear and under UPS protection. I don't have time to go through downgrading the Firmware to try this out and was hoping someone could provide some insight into this issue. Thanks in advance
