I have an RBR960 with 5 satellites covering my main building. The router is running in AP mode. I want to extend coverage into an adjacent building using the same broadband link. I have purchased an RBR960 plus 2 satellites to cover the new area. Does anyone have any guidance or suggestions regarding: adding the new equipment as satellites to the existing configuration configuring the new equipment as a separate network I guess the fundamental question is how many satellites can be added to a single configuration? Any advice appreciated, Thanks[BUG REPORT] RBRE960 Stops Responding to ARP Requests from WiFi Clients
**Device:** Netgear Orbi RBRE960 **Firmware:** V7.2.8.2 **Mode:** Router Mode (no satellites) --- **Summary** The RBRE960 intermittently stops responding to ARP requests from associated WiFi clients. Affected clients retain a valid DHCP lease and remain 802.11 associated, but lose all network connectivity because the router silently stops answering ARP broadcasts. The issue affects multiple device types and operating systems simultaneously and has been reproducible for over a year. --- **Affected Devices** - Windows 11 laptop (Intel AX211 WiFi 6E) - Android Samsung Galaxy phones - Linux desktop - Most severely impacts WiFi 6E devices, but not exclusively - Wired devices are never affected --- **Symptoms** - Device shows "Secured, No Internet" on WiFi - Device has a valid 192.168.x.x DHCP address - Device cannot ping the gateway - ARP cache on affected device is completely empty for all unicast entries including the gateway - Disconnecting and reconnecting WiFi immediately resolves the issue - Multiple devices can be affected simultaneously --- **Root Cause Identified via Packet Capture** I captured traffic using tshark during a failure event. I am not comfortable sharing raw pcap files publicly. Below is sanitized tshark output limited to ARP traffic only, with MAC addresses anonymized. **Capture 1 — During failure, before any fix applied:** ``` 1 0.000000000 [client-wifi-adapter] → Broadcast ARP Who has 192.168.1.1? Tell 192.168.1.32 [repeats 24 times over 23+ seconds] [zero ARP replies received from router at any point] ``` **The Orbi sends zero ARP replies across the entire 23+ second capture.** **Capture 2 — During static ARP entry injection:** ``` 1 0.000000000 [client-wifi-adapter] → Broadcast ARP Who has 192.168.1.1? Tell 192.168.1.32 [repeats 3 times then stops after static entry injected] ``` Immediately after the static ARP entry was injected for the gateway, ARP broadcasts ceased and full bidirectional traffic (DNS, TCP, TLS) resumed within milliseconds — confirming ARP resolution was the sole point of failure. --- **ARP Table During Failure** The following shows the ARP table on the affected device during the failure. Note the complete absence of any unicast entry for the gateway: ``` Interface: 192.168.1.32 Internet Address Physical Address Type 224.0.0.22 01-00-5e-00-00-16 static 224.0.0.251 01-00-5e-00-00-fb static 239.255.255.250 01-00-5e-7f-ff-fa static 255.255.255.255 ff-ff-ff-ff-ff-ff static ``` After static ARP entry injected and connectivity restored: ``` Interface: 192.168.1.32 Internet Address Physical Address Type 192.168.1.1 [router-mac] static 224.0.0.22 01-00-5e-00-00-16 static 224.0.0.251 01-00-5e-00-00-fb static 239.255.255.250 01-00-5e-7f-ff-fa static 255.255.255.255 ff-ff-ff-ff-ff-ff static ``` --- **Network Configuration** - DHCP pool: 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.254 - Active devices: ~8 (well within pool) - IPv6: Disabled - UPnP: Enabled - No satellites --- **What This Is Not** - Not DHCP exhaustion (253 address pool, 8 active devices) - Not IPv6 conflict (disabled) - Not a client driver issue (affects Windows, Android, and Linux simultaneously) - Not a signal or band issue (clients remain 802.11 associated throughout the failure) - Not ISP related (wired devices are never affected) - Not a single device issue (multiple devices affected simultaneously) --- **Workaround** Manually injecting a static ARP entry for the gateway on each affected device restores connectivity without requiring a reconnect: ``` netsh interface ipv4 add neighbors "Wi-Fi" 192.168.1.1 [router-mac] ``` This is not a viable long term solution, particularly for Android devices without root access. --- **Request** This is a fundamental Layer 2 failure — a router that does not respond to ARP requests from its own associated WiFi clients is non-functional for those clients. I have an RBRE960 with two satellites all running the latest V7.2.8.5 firmware connected to my provider's router via a Cat 6 ethernet cable. I have a 1 Gbps connection; the 960 consistently shows >= 900 Mbps on a speed test. I have two MBPs – one a personal one, one work – that 5 GHz connect to the Orbi at a Tx rate of 1,300 Mbps, but have a max download speed of 80 Mbps. Both MBPs are updated with the lastest macOS. Each MBP is connected to a different satellite. If I connect the MBPs to the provider's router (which is in my basement), I can connect at >=500 Mbps, so it's not the MBPs; it's definitively the Orbi system causing the reduced download speed issue. I've tried everything short of resetting the Orbi system to factory settings (resetting the MBPs, limit tracking on/off, spoofed MAC address (to see if it's tied to that)), etc, but I can't find a solution. I'll reset the Orbi system if I need to, but wondering if anyone has run into this situation, and if so, what the fix is. Thanks.SolvedConnecting two 960 systems
I have a 960 system with 4 satellites and purchased another 960 system with 2 satellites. I would like to expand the first system with the second. Can I use a wired backhaul from the main router to the new router then allow the 2 new wireless satellites to connect to the new router thus expanding the system?Cannot Connect to Orbi
We had a power glitch, and after recovery, I suddenly cannot connect to my RBRE960 router (or satellites). The router is working, and I have both WiFi and internet, but whenever I try to connect to the router, via either my browser ("192.168.1.1 refused to connect") or the app ("Unable to connect to router"), it fails. The funny thing is, on the app, under "My Products," it shows a green dot next to my router and "Connected via Anywhere Access." I've restarted the router and modem multiple times, but still no-go. Restarted the computer, etc. Still no-go. My setup: RBRE960 router and 3 RBSE960 satellites Nighthawk CM2050V Cable Modem Appreciate any insights anyone can give. Thanks.IOS 26.3 Upgrade - Can not connect to Internet but connected to the ORBI WiFi Network
On V7.2.8.2_5.1.18. Frustratated no amount of reverting to factory defaults will alow me to connect to the interent even though I can connect to the WiFi network and do anythign I want to config the ORBI settings from Iphone and iPAD. Followed all Netgear known KB's and Apples KB's. When will a firmware update be available because no amount of factory default resets and config options will allow my device to get to the internet?SolvedRMA Process Issue
Good Morning Netgear Community, I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I purchased an RBK860 system from Netgear Australia (a 2 pack, black colour RBR & RBS 860 and 2 standalone, white colour RBS 860 satellites). A couple of days after it arrived, I decided to upgrade and purchase the RBKE 960 system instead and to return the 860 system. Netgear Australia have a 30 day return (for any reason) policy and my return requests/RMA have been approved by Netgear Australia. The approved RMA numbers are: xxxxxxx The return email says that I should be receiving a prepaid return label and satchel from StarTrack for this address: NETGEAR Returns LIKEWIZE AUSTRALIA PTY LTD Door 7, 11-13 ASH ROAD PRESTONS NSW 2170 AUSTRALIA However, I have not received these return label and satchels and I have not had any indication that the prepaid satchel has been delivered by the warehouse. I have called the Netgear customer care team on 1300 361 254 and they have created a case () for me to request that this be expedited and I have asked for a tracking number for the return satchel, but there are still no updates from the warehouse. Can someone please help me out? Thank youOrbi 960 10gb port not reading high fiber speeds correctly
Orbi 960 10gb port not reading my 8gb fiber speeds. The max it will read is 5 gb down and 3700 up. I have tested it other ways using another router (eero max7) and directly out of the modem and everything else readys 7.8 down and up. Anyone else experiencing the same issue or know of a fix?"Korea" in "Advanced Wireless Settings" page "RBKE963B"
Hello, As I mentioned in another thread, I am also seeing "Korea" listed on the Advanced Wireless Settings page, even though my other region settings are correct. I am running firmware "7.2.7.15" on my "RBKE963B". For context, I performed a full factory reset and set the system up from scratch immediately after the firmware update. I have attached screenshots of the UI below. Do you think this is something I should be concerned about, or is it likely just a harmless UI bug that I can ignore?
