Sorry, i know this is a few months old, but i am curious about your comment as to why the RS200 would be better for this use case. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on an RS100, but would like to separate my IoT devices, but still manage them with apps on my phone on my regular wifi setup75Views0likes3CommentsRS280 firmware version 1.0.6.16 unreliable
I've been having problems with losing connections to my RS280 router over WiFi for the last couple weeks with various devices (laptop, phone, etc.). Reatarting the devices would make it work, but then the next day they would lose connection again. Rebooting the router did not seem to help. I noticed the RS280 was set up for automatic updates, and I think the problems started when it updated to 1.0.6.16. After manually downgrading to the old version 1.0.5.22 it seems to be working fine again.Solved114Views0likes1CommentDHCP address reservations had not been respected
I am having similar issues with a RS280 and firmware 1.0.6.16. We recently had an extended power outage that outlasted my UPS. When the power returned, most of the DHCP address reservations had not been respected. Looking at the reservation interface, all of my established reservation entries were there, but the attached devices list showed randomly assigned IP addresses. I did a power cycle on a couple of the devices and they were assigned the proper IP addresses. But that's a non-starter. I will double check, but I believe that all of the misassigned IP addresses were for wired connections.198Views0likes11CommentsRS180 /BE5500 5ghz radio issue "teardown" error.
Hello. I bought this RS180 Router new from Amazon (1-21-26) and out of the box even with factory ssid/ setting it started out with the default "Netgear 11" ssid and within 30 to 40 seconds of connecting my phone to the wifi the ssid signal dropped out and came back with "teardown" as an ssid and wrong password message. the RS180 would stay like that until i restarted it. Then it would reboot with the default info again and within 30 to 40 seconds the wifi would drop out and again come back with that same error of "teardown" as the ssid. The only way i could even get into this router to configure it was the web UI, being the nighthawk app on my phone required wifi. Now after Many days of going back between this unit and my old tp-link trying everything i can think of, all the firmware's, all the resets, all the 30/30/30 hard resets, nothing. I finaly traced this issue down to just when the 5ghz radio is enabled. if you disable the 5ghz band in the web ui settings this router seems to operate correctly for the most part. ( sorry but the firmware/ web ui is the worst i have seen in almost 30 years as far as functionality that ACTUALLY DOES what the settings are supposed to do) At this point my conclusion is that the actual hardware, or the 5ghz radio it self is damaged being i have tried everything i can think of software and settings related. Everything , 2.4ghz, all the wired ports , connections and basic web ui/ android app seem to function as intended with the 5ghz radio disabled. This kinds bums a person out especially for a $200 usd unit. (was on sale for $159, but still...) and A LOT of time wasted. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated Thank you.174Views0likes6CommentsRS200 speed slows to half after a day or two
I had an Asus router that was having a problem where I'd have to reboot it every week or it would start having up to 40% packet loss. Really weird and annoying, so I replaced it last week with an RS200 and was blown away by the wifi speeds I was getting. Every device in my home really liked working with the RS200 more than the old Asus. For example, my Mac Mini M4 would only get around 350 Mbps download tops with the old router and is getting more like 850 Mbps down on the RS200. However, after a day or two of operation, all my devices drop down to around 400-450 Mbps. There is no packet loss in my tests, just slow speeds. Rebooting the router fixes it for another day or two and then it returns. So I replaced a router I have to reboot every week for a router I have to reboot every 2-3 days. I'm on the latest firmware (v1.05.22). The problem is definitely with the router and not the ISP connection since reboot returns the original expected speeds for a while. I'm also a network engineer for the ISP and I'm able to check that side of things and there is no problem. Is this a common issue with this router? Does anyone have any suggestions? I heard somewhere that enabling and then disabling QoS might temporarily solve it but that doesn't seem to help. Many thanksSolved512Views0likes10CommentsWhy is my Netgear router trying to hack my NAS?
I had this happen with another Netgear router and returned it and got another, but same thing. The router is constantly trying to log into my Synology NAS using usernames like "user" and "admin". I figured the first router was compromised, but I guess this vulnerability is in all their routers now? I'm getting dozens of warnings from my NAS daily and it keeps blocking my router as a suspicious device. I tried contacting Netgear but never got anything but an automated response. "The IP address [192.168.1.1] experienced 10 failed attempts when attempting to log in to SSH running on Synology418play within 5 minutes and was blocked..."Solved618Views0likes12CommentsBlink XT and XT 2 cameras will be blocked
Just a FYI if you upgrade to a WiFi 7 unit such as the RS 200 your blink XT and XT 2 cameras will be blocked. All you need to do is port forward the sync module to port 443 External and Internal. the cameras will work. Give it a few minutes to send the info to each camera.153Views1like0Comments
