I am able to setup a custom LAN ipv6 interface ID of the router from the ipv6 setup, but the connected client devices lose the ipv6 addresses when doing so. Everything works perfectly when the ipv6 LAN interface ID of the router is auto generated. The custom setting works for a while after reboot and then devices randomly don't get ipv6 addresses from the router. The ipv6 address assignment is in the default auto config mode. ISP provides DHCP with PD ipv6 internet with a public wan ip to the router and a /64 prefix delegated to the lan side of the router Never had this issue with my previous R6700AX router. Any insights on why this might be happening?13Views0likes1CommentRS500 - Auto 5 ghz channel setting picks up DFS channel?
My neighborhood is pretty crowded with 5 Ghz channels. The auto 5 Ghz channel selection setting picks up channel 100 which is a DFS channel. This channel also has lower transmit power than the non DFS channels 36-48 and 149-161. The lower transmit power also significantly reduces the range on this router. Is there a way to disable to the DFS channel selection in the auto channel selection setting in the 5 Ghz band? The firmware needs to be tuned to pick up only non DFS main channels since they always have the best transmit power and most compatibility.179Views0likes17CommentsRS500 - Higher ping times to router than my previous router R6700AX
I am consistently getting ping times of 3ms or higher from a nearby laptop to the router over wifi. The same ping times with my previous router R6700AX is only 1 ms or lower from the same location and the same 5 Ghz band channel settings. The number of connected clients or network activity didn't change in both cases. The pings to the router over a wired connection is as expected and less than 1 ms. Do the Netgear wifi 7 routers in general have higher ping times to the router over wifi?Solved177Views0likes16CommentsRS500 Upload speed test
I have an RS500 connected to Fiber modem. I have symmetrical 2G down and 2G up. Using the Netgear app, the Speedtest from the router shows 2G down no problem. My upload speed couldn’t get above 100M. I disabled QoS and now I get about 800 M upload. I can’t seem to find anything else so I can get the full upload speed from my ISP. The ISP gave me an Eero router and that shows full 2 Gb up. iSP also confirmed the full speed at the modem. I have the latest firmware and did reset to factory settings. Does anybody have a suggestion on settings on the RS 500 so I can see the full upload speed?Solved73Views0likes4CommentsuPNP Port forwarding has Nat Loopback issues with DDNS
I have exactly the same issue with my RS500 that I just installed. Yesterday I spent hours with tech support trying to figure it out, but they only took in a lot of information but didn't solve the problem. If this was solved for RS600, I wonder if a similar solution is available for my router. Can I get the updated firmware patch, too?Solved54Views0likes4CommentsRS500
Hello, I upgraded my router because Netgear said they would no longer support. My upgrade is to a RS500. All my devices except for desk top computer were able to connect to RS500 with the passkey provided. Spoke to customer service several times, and tried all the tricks to have my desk top connect to this router, using the passkey. The message I receive is "incorrect passkey." My computer is perhaps 7 years old. Any suggestions?45Views0likes3Comments
