12 TopicsR9000 - Can't turn off WiFi using hardware on/off button
I have a Netgear Night Hawk X10 R9000 I purchased a couple of months ago, and I’m having some issues with the Wi-Fi button on the front......the 2nd button from the right, next to the WPS button. When I press and hold down the button for two seconds, the button lights up along with the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and the four antennas......but here’s where it gets interesting. When I again press and hold down the WiFi button (2nd from the right), the button light goes out, the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and the antenna lights go out, BUT.....the WiFi is still active on both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands (I still have WiFi Internet!!). Consequently, how could I still have WiFi Internet if the lights on the antennas are off, and the 2.4 and 5GHz lights are off also? The only way I’ve found to turn off the WiFi is to turn off the SSID broadcast for both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands in the router setup, but this is a real pain. I’ve updated to the latest firmware, but still no fix. NOTE: I’m NOT using the WPS feature / button; whereas, I’ve never got it to sync to any of my WiFi devices. Any suggestions or fixes?Solved3.9KViews0likes4CommentsR8500 how to unlock wifi region
I've just unlocked a R8500 bought in US and now working in EU. You know that all the router wifi that are selled in US market have wifi region locked to United States or North America, but I've found a solution putting togheter ideas from community. You should connect not in wifi but wired to your router and for me have worked and if you try is at your risk if you are not sure stop youself. Step 1: You should enable Telnet on your R8500 and the solution is http://routerlogin.net/debug and you check as active the Telnet check box. Step 2: On you computer you have Telnet active, on Linux is by default on Windows 10 it's an add-on that you can activate from app / program installation Step 3: Assume you are now on Win10/8/7 you should activate command window with CMD Step 4: Activate at prompt the Telnet Step 5: The first Telnet command is "open" "IP address" of your R8500 and user and password as usual I've not tried routerlogin.net but I suppose that is working Step 6: at prompt command "burnsku" to check the actual configuration that should be "0x0001" Step 7: at prompt command "burnsku 0x0002" and you unlock the wifi region selection, you should give the "burnsku" to check the upadte a 0x0002 Step 8: Restart your R8500 and your Wifi region is now unlocked and you can choose your location.Solved8.4KViews2likes2CommentsBought nighthawk x10 and t9e when gaming i still get ping spikes when gaming

I currently have a Windows 10 computer connected by Ethernet cable to my R7000 router. The computer currently connects to my printer's one USB port. When I change use of that USB port to connect to the router, will the cabled computer be able to access the printer through the Ethernet-to-router-to-printer route? My purpose is to print with my WiFi laptops.Solved4.1KViews0likes5CommentsNetgear RX7500 2,4 Ghz network not working anymore
Hello together, some days ago, I saw on my router, that there is a update. After I installed the newest version, which is V1.0.0.108, I first found out, that the connection speed for all clients was just terrible. The router was not able to provide more then 20MBit/s out of a 200MBit/s connection. After a fresh reinstallation by reset the router, the speed was just fine. I've tried to restore my backup, I did just before the reset but than, the router was back to 20MBit/s. So, I had to configure everything from scratch (including reserev IPs for more than 20 devices, port forwarding for NAS, printer etc.) Finally it worked with the full 200MBit/s but a day later I've recognized, that I#m not able to find the 2,4Ghz WLAN anymore. So, I reconfigured it and it was visible for approximately 20 minutes. After that, the 2,4 connection was gone again. At all the time, my 5Ghz connection was working normal. Some hours ago, I tried to reconfigure the 2,4Ghz network to work again but with no success. 10 minutes it worked, after that, it disappered. May you please help me fix this issue? Thank yoiu MichaelSolved5.8KViews0likes4CommentsNighthawk Router wifi will not connect to internet when cat6 are in the ports
I have comcast internet. Surfboard modem, nighthawk router. When the modem is connected to the router only wifi works corrcetly. If I try to connect and ethernet cord to any of the 4 ports on the back of the router, the wifi stops working. All the wifi devices remain connected (at least the iphones and ipads show they are still connected) but can't access any websites, thus not connected to the internet. Any suggestions on how to remedy this issue?Solved4.9KViews0likes4CommentsNighthawk R6700 5G radio not working after firmware upgrade
Netgear Nighthawk R6700 that I just upgraded to firmware V1.0.1.20_10.0.3. It seems to have killed the 5G radio. I have confirmed with a wifi environment analysis utility (Mac OS "WiFi Explorer" application) that the 5G wifi zone no longer exists. 2.4G radio and signal are fine. (It's not a signal strength problem because my wifi environment is not crowded and the 5G signal:noise ratio was somethig line 50dB before it went away. Normally the 5G zone shows up very strong.) Configuration is unchanged to that which worked before the upgrade. Router runs in AP mode (not router mode) and is hard-wired to another Netgear router (C7000-100NAS) that is also my cable modem interface. All routers and wifi AP's have unique wifi zone names. Things I have tried: -- rebooting the router in software -- power-disconnecting the router for 30+ seconds -- reverting to factory settings, both via web interface and via the recessed hard reset button (held for 7 seconds) -- disabling the radio under "advanced wifi settings", applying changes, then re-enabling it again -- enabling smart merge of 2.4G and 5G zones, applying changes, then disabling it again -- changing radio signal strength from 100% to 50%, applying changes, then restoring full strength again -- changing the radio's broadcast channel -- disabling and re-enabling wifi with the LED-illuminated hard button on the right front corner of the router case I'm at a loss for what to try next. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.SolvedR8000 Drops some wifi connections
For the past few months, my R8000 has been dropping wifi connections. I am running the latest firmware (V1.0.3.36_1.1.25) The devices that drop include laptops, iPhones, and a Samsung media player. What is unique about this is that these devices cannot reconnect until the router is reset. Range or signal obstructions do not appear to be an issue given the size of my house and centralized placement of my router. I performed a factory reset two weeks ago and am still experiencing these issues. Do I really need to roll back to a previous firmware? Doesn't that expose my router to more threats? Is there a way for me to get detailed troubleshooting information? Very upset given the price of this router.Solved5.3KViews0likes8CommentsSSID password not recognised
Today I tried upgrading the firmware to v 1.0.6.28. My first upgrade since purchasing 6 months ago. (Netgear Nighthawk R7000) Now my main WiFi SSID NETGEAR33 fails to work in all devices (laptops, iPads, iPhones) stating that the password is not recongnised. I have not changed the password and the Router setup confirms I am using the correct password. The other SSID's work fine (NETGEAR33-5G, and guest SSIDs). I tried downgrading the firmware to V 1.0.5.48 but it made no difference. Since many computers need the basic SSID NETGEAR33 I am in trouble! Any ideas? Hi to all, I have just installed my new R7000 WiFi router and I am experiencing some strange issues. My WiFi configuration consists of two WiFi networks, one on the 2.4 GHz frequency and one on the 5 GHz frequency. I have connected with success my two smartphones to both these networks. The strange thing is that if I use any browsers I am able to navigate, while if I launch apps like Google Play, Facebook and LinkedIn they are unable to obtain access to Internet. I have the latest firmware installed (V1.0.6.28_1.1.83) and already tried an hard reset and re-configuration. Has this thing happened to anybody?? Thank you in advanceSolved2.6KViews0likes1Comment
