M4300 and Mix Stacking
Hi Guys,
I have the M4300 12x12f switches and im trying to see if I can stack with other netgear switches.
Can anyone tell me if the following switches are stackable?
S3300-52X - I read about this switch being able to stack, but only if I invite the M4300 into a Stacked S3300 Cluster?

Hi mrpzy
Your M4300-12X12F can stack with any other M4300 model, this is a stackable family. I highly advise you standardize on M4300 models for Non-Stop Forwarding (NSF) unstoppable stacking.
The M4300-12X12F can stack with any other S3300 model, as indicated in the application note here. By doing that, the M4300-12X12F will be downgraded to S3300 software and will function as a S3300 switch only when running this code. No NSF in this mode, for instance.
Other switches you mention are standalone, hence do not stack with themselves or M4300 models.
I hope this helps!

- mrpzyTutorThank you for the quick reply @LuarentMa .
This is helpful information.
Would you be able to confirm what the best settings would be to connecting the m4300 top level switch to other non stackable switeches?
Thank you again.- LaurentMaNETGEAR Expert
Sure, if M4300-12X12F as your core switch, it would be best practice to "distribute" your other standalone switches in a star topology. You could add a level of redundancy with a second M4300-12X12F at your core, in a stack. LACP connections across this stack from all other switches would be the way to go.
