NETGEAR ProSAFE XS748T 10Gb SFP+ Compatability
While planning out some network upgrades, I have been told that the 10Gb SFP+ interface on the XS748T-100NES would not communicate properly with a 10Gb SFP+ port on a Dell SonicWall 3600 due to a mismatch of the brands. Are the communication protocols over SFP+ really so non-standard and brand specific that they wouldn't interface properly? I was under the impression that routing protocols are standard across the board and that there aren't too many devices out there for networking that stray away from industry standards. Any insight into this?
Thanks,
Will

XS748T 10G Smart Managed Pro switch and its 10GBASE-X SFP+ interfaces strictly respect IEEE standards and MSA certifications. Unless your third-party device doesn't, there is no interoperability issue that you should worry about.
What is non-standard here might be the reason why one would want you to stop using industry-standard and industry-leading NETGEAR 10G switch, and change for something else.
I hope this helps!
