Netgear XS708e connecting to cisco Catalyst 2960

Hi guys

I bought a Netgear XS708Ev2|ProSafe Plus 10G 8 ports switch to put it with our cisco network, but I am having trouble connecting it to cisco catalyst 2960

Is anybody work with this specific Netgear switch to connect it to the cisco switch?

I want vlan 5 and 10 to pass through the netgear - 5 to be a management vlan and vlan 10 will be a server vlan

On the cisco switch assing the port that direct connect to the netgear switch to be a trunk port so it will allow more than one vlan to pass throug that port...

On netgear switch I assigned its ip address to be on the management subnet, but cant even ping from the cisco switch

I know that netgear doesn't have trunking option on all the ports.

Is any way I can establish the connectivity between these two switches and able to pass through those vlans?

Thank you very much

  • Thanks for your help... I did put T on the direct port toward cisco switch with PVID of 1 and a member of all vlan, and still not working... so i decided to put the netgear as a dump switch and put native vlan 5 on my cisco switch to point to the management ip address of the netgear which within a management subnet address... and works fine...

I am still looking on why it was not working with putting T on a port with PVID = 1 and All vlans.

but thanks again for your help.

    Hi ikatutu,

    Welcome to the community! :)

The port(s) on the XS708E that is connected to the Cisco Catalyst 2960 should be set as tagged (T) with a PVID of 1 and it should be a member of all VLANs.
