switch set to fixed IP looking for a dhcp address.

Hello

Product NameM4100-50-POE ProSafe 48-port FastEthernet L2+ Intelligent Edge PoE Managed Switch, 10.0.2.26, B1.0.1.1

This switch is set to have a fixed .  yet it keeps asking for an address.

However our dhcp server logs show lines like this every few minutes.

Does anyone have a clue on how I can prevent the switch from asking for and address ?

  • since the switch is working great, i choose to just   filter log lines  from mac address of switch  to /dev/null at rsyslog.conf .

    Hi robfantini,

As per checking in here that the switch is still requesting for an IP even if it set already to static. Have you tried resetting this to factory default then reconfigure and check if it will be producing the same issue? You may also try reserving an IP for the switch in the DHCP server and let's see how it goes.

    Regards,

The DHCP server was already set up with a fixed lease for the switch.

hopefully there is another way to attempt a fax besides a factory reset.

        robfantini,

This is just part of our work around to double check if the switch will work from its default settings.
