gs728tpp not working with wireless access point

I'm trying to get a wax214v2 WAP working with a gs728tpp switch, but it's not working. Devices on connected to the WAP have no access to the internet. Wired devices connected to the switch can not connect to the WAP to manage/configure it. I can only configure the WAP through a wireless device.
I can hooking the WAP directly to the router and it'll work as expected. I've used 2 different routers to verify this. I've also tried connecting the WAP different ports on the switch with the same problem. I've tried doing a factory reset on the switch, same problem.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Does the connection serving as an uplink to the router work?

Beyond of the connected WAX214v2, does the switch work normally for other connected systems and devices?

Using a simple network patch cord (patch cable) for connecting the AP, or is there more infrastructure (like installed network wiring in the house) involved?

Can reach the  GS728TPP Web UI from other computers on the LAN, or from wireless devices connecting to the router Wi-Fi (if any)?

Can you rephase the question? I don't quite understand what you're asking.

Yes, I have a couple of computers connected to the switch without any problems.

I've done both to try to troubleshoot this issue. I get the same results, just doesn't work.

I can access the GS728TPP Web UI through wired device connected to it. It doesn't work if I try to go through the AP with a wireless device. Pings to the switch from the AP sometimes go through and sometimes get lost.

      Thank you,

The WAX214v2 is operating with it's default config, so no management VLAN and no VLAN(s) configured? As you say it works right away when connected direct to the router I guess it is.

Is the AP PoE powered, or powered using it's external power supply?

What shows the switch Web UI related to the AP and/or the uplink between the switch and the router?

    Hi Coldlance,

    Welcome to the community!

Is the AP (WAX214v2) in the same subnet as your network (Router/Switch)? If it is you should be able to access and configure it when you are connected to the same network. Please follow the setup guide here and let us know if this helps.

    Kind regards,

    BrianL

      Hey BrianL,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I didn't get back sooner. The AP (WAX214v2) in the same subnet as your network. The AP is getting it's IP from the router just fine. I've also tried assigning a static IP address. I'm only able to access the AP's Web UI (either by using https://www.aplogin.net or typing the IP address) through a wireless device that is connected to the AP. Wired connection through the switch to the AP does not work.

I've gone through the guide and still no luck.

      Thank you,

    Hi Coldlance,

Can or have you tried pining the Switch IP address from the devices connected to the AP (WiFi)? Also, send the tech-support file of the switch via PM so I can have a look.

    Kind regards,

      Hey BrianL,

So pings from the AP to the switch - some packets make it and some are lost.

I tried to download(upload) the configuration file but I'm running into some similar to what this person is experiencing.

      Thank you

      ColdLance

        Hi Coldlance,

Any reason why for the packet loss? Is the switch up to date?

        Kind regards,

        BrianL
