SRX5308 can't access WAN 2
So I've been tasked with setting up a rollover on WAN 2.
In WAN 1, I've got 4xADSL modems going into a bonded gateway. This gateway connects to WAN 1.
WAN 2 is plugged into a 4G Router. It's a Sierra Wireless (ProRoute branded) H685. It's being used as a rollover for WAN 1.
On the port (WAN 2), I see a green link LED and an Amber (100Mbps) LED. I only see an amber light on the "internet" LED when I'm using both WAN ports on load balancing. WAN 1 "internet" LED is always green. To my understanding, this config is correct.
When I plug the 4G router into a switch (Netgear GS724T), I can access the admin panel (192.168.1.9). However when I plug it into WAN 2 on the SRX5308, I can't get any connection.
Any help would be great!
Cheers,
Dan

That's correct, during testing it does roll over to WAN 2. The "Internet" LED comes up in Amber (which is a signal of a 100Mbps connection - that's fine). However no data is being received.
I've confirmed that there is definitely a signal coming into the 4G router and that it sending packets. I've tested this by plugging it into a stand alone PC and getting a connection with 0 issues.
So my assumption is that this a connection issue at entry to WAN 2. - aditMentorSet it to only use WAN2 and test. If no traffic passing, power cycle the Sierra and test again.

Ok just done this. Still not playing ball. Is there some further configuration that needs setting when I initially plug in another internet gateway besides the main WAN 1? Or should it simply be plug and play? - djdansterAspirantUnder Monitoring > Router Status > Detailed status this is what I have for WAN 1 & WAN 2. Is this what it should look like?

- djdansterAspirantJust done this again. Schecduled it for out of hours. It didn't roll over.
I unplugged WAN 1 expecting it to roll over to WAN 2. I did not. So I manually switched it so that WAN2 was the default connection. This just yielded an amber "Internet" LED. I couldn't access the Admin Panel at 192.168.1.9 and I also couldn't access the any external IP.
This is clearly more complex than a simple, set it as a roll over and job done. It's not working that way for me :( - aditMentorYou need to make sure that the Sierra/ISP did not cache the MAC address of your test PC.

Device on Sierra is router correct? Have you check on Sierra device make sure it is connected full time? - djdansterAspirant

Even after a power cycle? How would I check this? I know it's not netgear hardware, but any keywords I'd be looking for would be great.jmizoguchi wrote: Device on Sierra is router correct? Have you check on Sierra device make sure it is connected full time?
It's constantly connected to the HSPA network yep. It seems that accessing the 3g network may be a secondary issue at the minute. The biggest concern seems to be that I can't even access the admin panel on the Sierra router.
