Assign SXK30 Phillips Hue ethernet to a specific wifi network

Hello,

Apologies if this is obvious - is there a way to assign the Phillips Hue I have plugged into a particular network, i.e. my IOT network? Works fine on the default admin network, but want to shift it off that if possible.

Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the Orbi Pro products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with Orbi Pro and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

    Thank you.

      Where did Orbi come from?

Good idea to read messages before you hit the boilerplate button. Or at least ask a useful question.

    Probably best addressed by Phillips.

Heaven only knows why anyone would use their boilerplate text to tell you to post in the Orbi section. I see no hint that you are using an Orbi device. Maybe you are using a Nighthawk router.

In any case, asking that question somewhere else isn't likely to get a different answer. This is a generic question that applies to any router with a guest network.

Can you reset the Hue and set it up from scratch?

    You're using the SXK30?

The SXK30 has an IoT network as part of its multiple ssid's for the pro line. You can simply enable that ssid and migrate the hue over to it.

And you should be able to assign one of the vlan's for the ethernet connection to a hue hub that works with the IoT ssid.

Is that what you're asking? or what issue are you running into setting it up.

    • Oh dear - sorry everyone, I didn't spot there was an Orbi forum.

Basically Plemans exactly that - I can see I can add an 'iot' vlan profile to the lan port- but I thought that added some rules about what could and couldn't connect, rather than identify the wifi network it's going to use.

I'm really not sure how clear I'm being -  so apologies in advance. Maybe I should just have a better play in the menus.

Like many direct App controlled IoT the mobile phone with the Hue App and the Hue gateway must be on the very same network (same VLAN, same IP subnetwork, ...). Putting it to another network (different VLAN, different SSID) is somehow prohibiting, unless you prefer to change the wireless network for switching or controlling your Hue lamps, LED stripes, ..
