Unable to reach ProSafe WN203 access point

My WN203 has been reset to factory settings.

Updater to 2.0.11 firmare version

Changes IP address to DHCP mode.

Management screen shows up all right on my Mac

Changed Antennas to "external"

Changed SSID and AccessPoint names to "xyz"

Left security to the default "open system" mode

I can see the WiFi signal from my Mac, but trying to access it says "impossible to connect to WiFi network "xyz".

Try to get nearer to the wireless station ...

What am I missing??

I am lost!!

  • The WN203 Acces Point is correctly connected to my LAN as I can verify that the "time" value updates correctly.

      Hello hg83,

      Welcome to the community!

I see you have some issues connecting your MAC to your WN203 AP, let me try to help you. I have some questions before I start giving troubleshooting tips, this will help me give you a more accurate troubleshooting to fix your network problem. I have listed my questions below:

      1. How far/close are you from the AP?

      2. Does other devices on the network experience the same issue?

      3. Why was the AP been reset to factory default?

      4. What channels are you using?

      5. What is the version of your MAC?

      Looking forward to your response.

      Thanks,

        Hello,

here are the answers to 5 questions:

        1/ Very close, three feet

2/ The remainder of the network works fine (Airport time capsule, ADSL router box with WiFi capability)

3/ Lost passwords/keys following change of admin ownership

        4/ Default values (11ng, Channel/Frequency = auto)

5/ iMac and MacBook Air whith latest system (10.10.5)

        Thanks for help

  • I have one simple suggestion.

Change the channel of your access point to 1, 6 or 11...
I remember when i installed WN203 at my company, some macbooks did not work by this way, and then i changed the channel and everything works very well..

You can try using another computer to connect.

    Best Regards.

      Hello Aldair,

Yes, that is a good suggestion since some devices are more comfortable locking with the channels mentioned. However, we'll have to wait for OP's response regarding the status of the switch. We'll need to know if it is still active before we can probably try changing the channels.

      Thank you for your contribution.

      Regards,

No broadcast of SSID at this time.

Test made with iMac and MacBook AIr.

Haven't figured out yet how to change channel number.

Problem is now lower priority (hence my silence lately). Will come back to it later

        Cheers,

        Henri
