I have a similar issue with my RBR850 but I'm on V7.2.6.21
flyingdutchgeek I have a similar issue with my RBR850 but I'm on V7.2.6.21, wired backhaul and every time I look at the satellite its either magenta, white and blue. I disabled the firmware updates because of screwup by netgear and releasing code that was an absolute mess. I wonder if something else has changed (Carrier or ???) that is not compatible with Orbi.
FURRYe38 do you have a link handy for the firmware available?

In that jpg the problem child was the wired RBS. I believe the "out of sync" device was actually an apple airport express or apple TV as it became "Disconnected" when I removed those devices. Has been running without error for several hours. I forgot to turn off the firmware update so it's at the latest and I'll leave that way for a few days so I don't introduce too many changes. Next step is to plug back in some of those devices removed, one at time...maybe an hour or so in-between. I'll report back but none of these devices are new, been attached for as long as I've had the router so I don't know if it was a device or the 30-30-30 reset

So v.15 loaded on the RBR and RBS?
Do you think one of the apple devices that could be causing problems?
- JroachLuminary
Yes, v.15. Yes, that’s what I’m thinking but don’t know why. Apple ax has an extender capability but that should be disabled as it’s just being used to provide streaming to a McIntosh multi room amp
- JroachLuminary
Yes, RBS was wirelessly connected to the RBR.
No, the wifi devices auto connected to the RBS and (maybe this was the same thing you said) then I physically connected the ethernet devices to the RBS and the wireless shut off on the RBS and wireless devices lost the connection.
It's not the Hue Hub or Apple AX. I don't think its the Netgear SW but it is interesting that the SW is showing up as a satellite on the Orbi app and I don't recall ever seeing it on the web page but now shows up at the top with the RBS

So I see one wired and another wireless connected. I presume the wireless one is the problematic one? or is it the wired one? Trying to keep this in line here.
The wireless should not shut off on the problem RBS if you connect ethernet devices behind the RBS...

Waited until this AM to do the 30-30-30. Prior to that I noticed that there wasn't the magenta light I'm use to seeing lately but none of my devices could find the internet (wired still worked)
did the 30-30-30 with the satellite in the same room (I only have the one satellite). Never could get it to go solid white and tried some variations to see if I could get it to work:
First try, flashing white then blue.
Tried the "Add Orbi Satellite" From the RBS web page and it failed
Second, did the 30-30-30 again, never presented a solid white light, flashing white then blue.
Tried the "Add Orbi Satellite" From the RBS web page and it failed
Tried a factory reset (not 30-30-30). Flashing white then blue, never solid. Failed the Add Orbi Satellite but shows connected in attached devices.
Waited for about 10 min before moving it downstairs. Observed: Orbi app and web interface shows connected at 5GHz, 8 devices attached to the satellite.
Attached wired devices (not backhaul), within a minute solid blue light, lost wireless (blue light, not magenta) but wired devices work. Removed wired device and RBS wireless back up.
seems like a smoking gun to me:)
Starting to remove/troubleshoot 'wired' devices attached to RBS: Hue Hub then Netgear SW with: AppleTV, Apple AX, Samsung TV, Denon AVR, McIntosh Multiroom amp (normally off). Nothing has changed in a few years but the Samsung TV, which was replaced a month or so ago.
I'll report back

So after the RBS was wirelessly connected to the RBR, you connected wifi devices to the RBS then connected ethernet connected devices to the RBS and the wireless shut off on the RBS and wireless devices lost the connection?
- JroachLuminary
I'll try the 30-30-30 and report back.
Tks for the tip about other RBS' compatible with the 850 but if the reset you outlined doesn't work then I've gone past my limit time wise. Whats crazy is
this is my third Orbi and if I replace it with another Orbi then I think I lost my marbles. Always the same thing, some error and too difficult to find the root cause but replacing it
works for a few years.

Is the 770 a good replacement?
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Mines been good as it's currently online.
There are known issues with newest generation Android and Apple devices with BE systems. Something NG is working with them and chipset mfrs on.
Is the 850 series your only router system currently?
- JroachLuminary
Caught me just in time. I was in the parking lot to buy the 770 and got your reply....phew. Not supporting latest is biggy.
RBk850 is my only router system. Can't find a RBS850 to replace my satellite...nobody carries new units in 2-packs, just 3-packs locally.
oh well

FURRYe38 thanks for the advice
Maybe safari or ???? but this forum is difficult to figure out. I'm use to things being in an order of old to new and no matter how I sort it my most recent comments don't appear (at least where I think they should be)...oh well
might have found a 'smoking gun' thanks to your advice about setting the range .100 to .200. Two device kept falling below .100. Turns out those devices had static IP set, likely from some issue a few years back. One of the IP address' was .41 (ref earlier in this thread that that seemed to be a duplicate). Changed them to dynamic and monitoring.
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Ah ok. So already had one at .41 static. Could have left it there if yo uchanged the range. But see how it goes now. Probably good now.
I use Opera GX for forum postings.
I refresh the pages as well to see new posts or updates.
- JroachLuminary
Good to know about Opera GX.
Problem persists. Not enough tools with Netgear/Orbi to see what's going on and I need an appliance, not a hobby:)
I think it's time to move on and try something new. Have you had any experience with the eero 6 or TP-Link Deco BE63? Rich Demuro
recommends both and seems to be a pretty unbiased opinion (I hope)
- JroachLuminary
I'm also seeing dulpicate name conflicts, ie: "device" vs "device(3)". might be a downstream issue from the failure I'm experiencing.
- JroachLuminary
disabled and still has the RBS dropping. Wired devices attached to the RBS continue to run.
- JroachLuminary
loaded V7.2.6.31
did not do a factory reset (yet)
confirmed it is just the wireless devices on the RBS that are failing
I'll let it run for an hour or so and enable IPv6
- JroachLuminary
yes and yes
RBS took the .chk file, not so with RBR but haven't tried chrome.
What's the risk of 2.7.15 on RBS and 2.6.21 on RBR. It's been good for a few hours now
- FURRYe38Guru - Experienced User
Could work, however RBR and RBS should be on same FW level. Let it run for now and see how it goes.
Will need to get the RBR updated at some point though.
Something to try to load the RBR using NMRPFlash maybe if Chrome or Firefox don't do it normally.

I think I see an issue but not certain of the remedy. Various devices wried/wireless connecting to the RBS850. I've seen this before but typically ignore Orbi's duplicates in "attached devices" as artifacts of some cache or ????
Checked on a few and they were really duplicates, specifically a security camera and stereo amp sharing 192.168.1.41. Typing that IP gets me to the camera interface yet when I check on the stereo (via its app) it shows the same IP address. Uncertain if the app had cached that address I checked the stereo itself from it's panel I can confirm that the address is the same; 192.168.1.41. Both devices fail using their respective apps.
I also observed, and maybe this was coincidence, when I cycled the power on the stereo I got the magenta light.
Unplugged/plugged both devices and they now have their own unique IP.
- JroachLuminary
I have Chrome or Safari. I'll try chrome but.... funny thing is the RBS has been solid (good) for 30+ min now since updating the RBS to 2.7.15. Maybe I should leave it alone?
I used the manual process from router page while connected to the RBS and then tried the same for the RBR while connected to the RBR.

You on Mac?
Try Firefox as well.
RBR should be taking the extracted .chk RBR file. How I updated my system. However was using a Windows PC I believe back then.
