RS700 firmware update 1.0.9.6
Hi
After upgrading to 1.0.9.6, something has prevented some of my 2.5ghz devices from being able to connect to wpa2/3 setting when smart connect is enabled.
the only way to resolve was to disable smart connect and change security to wpa2 only, or downgrade firmware which I have now done, and everything is working perfectly again.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

I was able to downgrade to v1.0.7.96 successfully on my Netgear RS700S router and it resolved ALL of my issues related to connectivity following the upgrade to v1.0.9.6.
Specifically, my La Crosse C83100 weather station, Honeywell Series 9000 wifi thermostat and Western Digital MyCloud PR2100 (would not remotely reboot) ALL went back to normal function after the downgrade.

Just adding that I've had similar issues once upgrading to 1.0.9.6. My Honeywell thermostat and my GE oven will no longer connect. Not the end of the world but kind of annoying since they worked fine before the update.

Just to add to this discussion.
I updated to this Firmware today and then none of my devices could connect to my 6ghz network (I like to separate them out). I downgraded to V1.0.8.64_3 and all started to work again.

Same issue here, Honeywell Themostats show on the Router device list, but I cannot connect them to the RS700.... cannot coonect to an IP address. tried all the reset, etc above.... no success. I'd be willing to try Beta also.

Yes, you're definitely not alone — I've seen multiple users report similar issues after upgrading to 1.0.9.6, especially with legacy 2.4GHz devices failing to connect when WPA2/WPA3 mixed mode is used alongside Smart Connect.
It seems like the firmware’s implementation of WPA3 is stricter or buggy, and some older devices just can't complete the handshake properly. Disabling Smart Connect or forcing WPA2-only, like you did, is currently the most reliable workaround.
Downgrading the firmware is smart if stability matters more right now. Hopefully Netgear acknowledges this in the next patch. I’d recommend reporting it via their support form or community so it gains visibility.

NG is already aware of the issues with v.6 FW. Users can reach out to NG for a beta sample to try or revert back to last working version of FW.

I had issues with the latest firmware 1.0.9.6 breaking notifications on my Eufy cameras (not getting notifications). Once I rebooted the router, the notifications worked for a few days, but then they broke again. Reverting to firmware 1.0.7.96 fixed the issue. I would like to test the trial firmware if it addresses the issue.

I am having similar problems with a few of my 2.4GHz devices (Honeywell thermostat, Dyson Air Purifier, and Sony DVD player). I would be willing to install the trial firmware and report back.
When will the newer non beta firmware release? Why is it taking so long? Netgear leaving up current broken firmware on their website?
Why is Netgear leaving faulty firmware 1.0.9.6 version on their website? They won’t pull it…
