Firmware update (6.5) - Apps won't start, can't be installed oder deleted

Hi everbody,

like most of you I updatet my Readynas 204 today. The update process itself went smoothly, but after the necesarry restart some problems arose.

1. I wanted to update Anit-Virus Plus, but it does't work.

2. Plex doesn't work at all and I also can't delete it.

3. I wanted to delete Owncloud which does't work as well.

Of course I tried to to restart the NAS several times and also tried to switch it of entirely and wait for some.

Does anyone have an idea what I might do?

Thanks

Christian

  • Edit: the fix in this post is no longer be needed.

Anyone else having this problem on an OS6 ARM system running 6.5.0 please download (EDIT LINK REMOVED)

If it self-extracts grab the zip file from the trash/recycle bin (if it is moved there). It is most important that you have the zip file that was downloaded.

Restore this zip file via System > Settings > Backup > Restore

You will then be prompted to do a reboot.

About 4-5 minutes later the problem should then be fixed.

If you purchased new, you could try contacting support (being very clear that this problem was caused by the firmware upgrade, so they should look at it for free).

      Hi Ringo155 & Canolli,

      Welcome to the community!

Was it the same case if you will install an app manually or via 'Available apps'? We'll look into this issue that you guys reported.

      Kind regards,

I am having the same issue on 6.5.0 upgrade from 6.4.1 on an NS102.

note, I am trying install a new ap for the the first time. i was not installed on 6.4.1....

this is the iDrive 1.00.6 or 1.00.7 versions, both will not install.

  • Hi BrianL

    Thanks for your reply,
It happens if I try to use the available apps as well as trying to upload the files manually.
    thanks

  • Hi BrianL
I try available apps as well as trying to upload the files manually,i need my Plex working
  • Same here.

Plex fails to install and cannot be removed. I wanted to reinstall (from "available apps" and by uploading manually) it since it stopped working after upgrading to 6.5.0. I have also tried other apps from "available apps", which did not work.

I have confirmed my suspicions. We will have a fix for this in the next firmware release.

Did you wait for a few minutes after installing the patch as mdgm said? If you checked straight away after installing the fix, 100% the fix wouldn't have had effect yet.

The patch that mdgm-ntgr is providing is a work around for the users that are running arm platform. We are working with Egnyte to address the fix from the server side.

I will update everyone once the server settings are updated.
  • Hi All, I was directed to this page from the CouchPotato Forums and I went to restore that config file. Now my NAS just has kfree+120 shown on the display. I am scared to touch it or reboot it. Is this normal? Will it just "fix itself"? Hopefully someone can assist. Thanks!

  • I still saw such issue on my 204. And finally i downgrade to 6.4.2, factory reset and reinstall app resloved the issue.
