Upload via email not working
Hi,
Had NV+ V2 for a couple of days and still trying to work it all out.
Trying to setup Photos II (V1.0.6) and the upload to email doesn't work. It all appears setup OK, it has given me an address to send to. I have tried sending from 2 different email addresses, one of which being the registered one. Both disappear down a black hole.
Is there something I am doing wrong.

- HERBIEOAspirantNot used the remote upload by email but the procedure should be
1. While logged in to your ReadyNAS Photos II account, select SETTINGS > Preferences > Remote Upload.
2. Select the Enable Remote Upload check box.
3. In the Passcode field, enter a 4-character alphanumeric code.
4. In the Upload option field, select the setting that you want. You use this setting to specify from which email address photos can be uploaded to your album.
• Photographers.
• Photographers and invited guests.
• Any email address
5. Select an album as the default target album for uploaded photos.
6. Click Set to save the settings.
A unique email address is generated for you. You can change your passcode at any time. - Jamieg285AspirantYes, done all that. For point 4 I started with Photographers email only, then changed to Any email to try from a different account.
Neither email has worked. - HERBIEOAspirantAre you pasting the photo into the body of the email or attaching it ?
- Jamieg285AspirantJpg's as attachments (1 per email)
- HERBIEOAspirantAll that you are doing seems correct according to the manual, what services do you have enabled on the Nas as it may need FTP or HTTP enabled for this to work.

Which manual?HERBIEO wrote: what services do you have enabled on the Nas as it may need FTP or HTTP enabled for this to work.
I need to check this. If this is the case, it needs to be documented, either in the setup screen or a manual, explaining what needs to be enabled and with what settings. - HERBIEOAspirant
- Jamieg285AspirantNot had the time to check my ReadyNAS service settings yet, but there is an update.
Both of the emails that I sent have now been returned undelivered. One (sent using SMTP) returns with error:
441 The recipient's server is not responding (also called SMTP Error 4.4.1)
SMTP Error 441 : This is an error emanating from your server indicating that the recipient's server is not responding. Your server will automatically try again a number of times - how many depends on how your server has been configured.
and the other sent via Exchange returned with:
447 - Your outgoing message timed out. (also called SMTP Error 4.4.7)
SMTP Error 447 : Your outgoing message timed out because of problems with the receiving server who objected to your message. Typically there is a problem with the message header (such as too many recipients, in most cases, or a protocol timeout between the two servers).
I don't think that the email address routes directly to my ReadyNAS (I could be wrong), so I can't see how this can be due to any problems with my settings.
I'll still be checking my settings when I get the chance, but still hoping for guidance. - HERBIEOAspirantI tested this myself and got the same outcome sent email with photo attached and nothing it as not uploaded to my album so maybe there is a problem on netgears end.
- Jamieg285AspirantThanks for the sanity check.
