Difference between Readynas NV+ V1 and Readynas NV+ V2 ?
Hello.
Do both the NV+ V1 and V2 models look identical ? Is there anyway to tell the difference between the NV+ V1 and V2 from physical appearance?
I believe I have purchased an NV+ V2 however I am unsure if its V1 and V2. Please let me know how I can tell the difference just from psychical appearance?
Thanks.

Thank you. That actually helped a lot!! Especially the pictures diagrams and how you can't rely on the V1, V2 numbers on the back of the unit since they are all over the world on that.
The biggest difference I see from physical appearance is
1. Power cord: The V1 seem to use a standard power cord the same used for computers, monitors, etc...( see # 5 on first image) however version 2 seem to have a rounded 4 pin power cord in the top right area of the back of the unit(see reference 5 on the second picture).
2. FAN grill on V1 seem to have supporting metal in a pattern that looks like this " <" and " >" vs Version 2 has a more clear view of the fan without those metal pieces
Version 1
Please see pictures for reference.
Version 2
Is it possible that a early version 2 shipped in the same looking chassis as the version 1 units?
The reason I ask is because I just purchased what was advertised as a version 2, had a 3TB drive included, was said to be running the version 5.3 firmware which all indicate a version 2 unit however the picture clearly show the back of the unit to look what is a version 1 unit.
Should I ask for the serial number to verify the version number?
Thanks. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI have a beta Duo v2 unit and a production Duo v2 unit. They both have the rear layout of a Duo v2.
Sounds like your reseller is either still selling Duo v1 units or they haven't bothered to update the pictures they show to show the correct one the Duo v2. - armornoneAspirant

Or possible copied and pasted the information about the V2 from the website and the 3TB drive inside the unit may have been a failed attempt to expand( since the V1 have a max HD of 2TB in size)
So bottom line is if it looks like a V1 then it must be a V1 ?
That is a shame. I was hoping to get something that could support the larger hard drives. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou should seek more information from the reseller. Maybe a picture of the box it is in.

Unit is used and no box there. How else can I confirm this? Can I tell from getting the serial number or part number from the device? Is that printed anywhere on it?
Thanks. - chirpaLuminaryIf the serial number starts with 000DA2, is it definitely a v1.
USB ports on the back of the v2 are blue (for USB3.0). - armornoneAspirant

I have confirmed it does indeed start with 000DA2. So it look to be first generation.
