Hard Drive Failure RN104

Readynas RN104 4x3TB disks (Seagates I think) RAID 5 running OS 6.10.3 and at least 1 disk has failed.  Received message (can't remember exactly what now) in Raidar but heard clicking inside unit (so definitely a drive failure).  Rebooted but then when I go into Raidar now, then Admin page, it brings up screen to start setting up new RAID.

The data is backed-up so not too concerned about data loss but I've like to get to the logs and understand what happened and which drives have failed.

NooB on linux but can follow instructions re SSH and required commands.

  • One option is to power down the NAS and test the disks with SeaTools.  Label the disks by slot as you remove them.

RAIDar 6.5 should give you an option to download the NAS logs and run diagnostics. Have you tried that? The current version of RAIDar is here: https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads

Thanks will give that a try.

Got Raidar 6.5.0 now so will see if can get logs that way as well.

Ok when I try to get logs via Raidar I get attached image - 'Healthy' status doesn't make sense.  Display NAS says 'READYNAS is in safe mode'.  Can hear clicking / beeping from unit.

Need to locate caddy to do Seatools drive checks.  Will revert on outcome.
