Hardware warranty with shipped drives versus updated ones
Wondering how the hardware warranty is handled IF the original shipped drives are removed/sold/upgraded?
In other words, if I buy a 524X with 4 x 4TB drives (IE the RN524XD4-100NES or RN524XE4-100NES) and THEN later upgrade to say 8TB drives does/how would that affect the units original warranty?
Would warranty be incumbent on the ORIGINAL drives being in the unit?
I DO realize that a DRIVE failure of one of the NEW drives would NOT be covered (since the original drives are gone) but my question is more as regards the unit in general? (My point being I am thinking of selling the original (shipped) 4TB drives and upgrading them size wise).
Maybe someone could explain or shed some light for me? I hope my question makes sense...
I simply envision that somewhere down the line I would LIKELY upgrade the drives size wise and am wondering how it would affect the warranty of a pre-populated unit (referenced above) if that makes sense?
Thanks.

The chassis warranty isn't linked to the drive warranty. So if you change out the drives, you would still get the same chassis warranty you'd have if you'd purchased diskless.
Overall, it's generally a bit cheaper to purchase diskless, and it also allows you to choose the drives you want to use.
I agree 100% about buying diskless units (and always had previously) the price just couldn't be beat this time...
Thanks again for answering. Thank you for ALL you do here.
