Netgear why ? does nothing work, Readycloud, ReadyNas

Components:

Router R7000,ReadyNasDuo RND2000, PC’s Windows 10 prof. 64 bit

What do I want; just share a drive over the internet for sharing.

With ReadyCloud I can’t

1) ReadyCloud don’t support this NAS.

2) Connect a USB drive to the router but you can’t share the USB drive, not supported.

Try it with ReadNas, ReadyNas won’t work with Windows 10, can’t find the NAS

So a lot of nothing! I don’t think, if I have to buy something new that it will be Netgear.

A lot of frustrating hours of trying, testing, installing, uninstalling, reading on the internet, downloading etc etc.

Does anybody know something a forget of doing, trying, installing that some of the possibility’s will work.

  • WOW, a disabled Jumbo file’s on the NAS and un- installed ReadyNas Remote re-installed it and , Yes on my Windows 10 PC the NAS and the USB drive connected to the Router R7000 pop-up !

I  even can read and write on the shared folders… on the NAS and on the USB drive.

Was the check box for Jumbo files the issue ?

    Hello Paul-Jan,

Which storage are you really trying to use and share over the Internet? Is the ReadyNAS Duo or the USB stick you plug in to your router?

ReadyCloud will not work with the legacy ReadyNAS unit you have, it works with ReadyNAS OS6. If you want to use ReadyCloud, you can only use it with your router with USB stick.

It doesn’t matter, something, ore the USB Drive or my NAS, one of them will do.

But so far I can’t do it with ReadyCloud en it won’t work with ReadyNas Remote.

(I wrote ReadyNas, it is ReadyNas Remote)

Yes I have created an account, en Yes It is working on a Apple ! But not on a Windows PC.

Currently I’m trying it on an old Windows XP latop, no success………..

        Hello Paul-Jan,

It matters because you need to be in the right board if you are going to use USB stick. For ReadyNAS Duo it needs ReadyNAS Remote and not ReadyCloud.

If you are trying to use ReadyNAS Duo with ReadyNAS Remote, provide complete information, what exactly is happening, what is not working, the steps you have taken, the firmware version of the ReadyNAS Duo. If you can post screenshots, that will help.

        Regards,

  • File sharing; and user rights !

    What am I doing wrong?

Readynas Remote is working, also for extern.

A made several users and also a group.

Al user can access the folders and file’s

But If I want to prevent access of one of the users to one of the folders nobody has access anymore!

If I look in de Windows in to folder security and then advanced the Share is only available for “Everyone” I can’t at a user.. with permissions.

(This is one the main page (root) of all the folders, so not the folders options on the share)

I can at users with permissions by adding them the normal way.

But still, and it doesn’t matter what I chance, in the frontview of the netgear regarding the read write options, user rights, Group or no Group it is still all or nothing.

So I’m not able to give certain rights to the selected Users.

What do I do wrong, HELP…

PC info: Windows 10 64 bit, NAS ,ReadyNasDuo RND2000

What firmware are you running?  4.1.x or 5.x.x?
