NV+ v2 with WD30EZRX
I purchased both of the above on May 7th via a Amazon bundle (for a great price) and when I purchased them I'm 99.99% sure the drive was listed as compatible with the NV+ v2. Installation went fine and I didn't have any issues until I tried to attach a USB drive to the NV+ v2. Every time I would attempt to copy roughly 800GB to the USB drive the NV+ v2 would drop off the network more or less freezing (requires a plug pull). It was a USB 3.0 drive so I tried the USB 2.0 port as well and had the same issue. Much later on I also tried a completely different USB drive (multiple cables too) and had the same issue. Further more I have replaced the NV+ v2 thinking perhaps it was defective and still had the same issue. I also did several Factory Defaults.
So long story (some what short) I have tried numerous NV+ v2 and USB drives and every time I attempt to copy the same 800GB data the NV+ v2 crashes. It also crashes if I direct connect a PC to the NV+ v2 (via Ethernet). So it appears whenever the transfer rate is fairly high it crashes. I have transferred the data multiple times over my 100Mbps network to/from the NV+ v2 without issue. I haven't had one that I can remember...
Since the only thing I haven't replaced is the original 3TB drive (model listed above) I'm beginning to have my doubts about it. As I can't believe the behavior is normal and I'm not far from shipping everything back and calling it quits. I copied the same data to/from two low-end NAS devices without any issues and I certainly expected this guy to keep up.
So since I began questioning the drive (I have done a few check disks which report no issues) I took another look at the compatible drives at ReadyNAS.com and notice it's not on the list. I swear it was before... and it's on the list for the Duo v2 which I would think would support the same disks. Since it's not on the list I have ordered one that is and I'm going to give it a try. Which leaves me with two questions...

Please use a Cat5e or newer ethernet cable when doing the direct-connect.
If it still drops off doing the direct-connect then check to see if the NIC drivers in your PC are up to date.
A 100Mbps network is slow. You might wish to purchase a gigabit router/switch and connect the NAS to your network via that. I know. But so far that's the only speed that works. Using a attached USB drive backing up to or from the NV+ v2 (tried all three of the NV+ v2 USB ports) or direct connection the NV+ v2 crashes. Since it does in both situations it appears to be hunting ghosts looking beyond the NV+ v2 itself and or its drive.- What version of RAIDiator?

Note it crashes doing a backup from its internal drive to and from the attached USB drive. My only guess is it was found to be non-compatible. I'm hoping so as other wise given the issues I've been having I give up. Looking into other possibilities I noticed one of their major competitors list 158 supported drives (for a similar model) versus 21 for NV+ v2.- Too early to tell anything however I received my Seagate 3TB ST3000DM001 and sent the WD30EZRX back to Amazon. Installed fine and I instantly upgraded to Beta T41. So if any of the issues were related to the early Beta who knows and who cares... if they go away. :) I will say this drive appears noisier and runs a little hotter (not that I care).
I direct connected the NV+ v2 to my Mac Mini (old, slow guy) and started dumping the data back (roughly 1.25GB a minute) onto it via an external USB drive attached to the Mac (it's formatted for Mac so I can't attach it directly to the NV+ v2). I would have used ext3 or NTFS but as posted earlier the NV+ v2 would crash every time I tried such so I went the old slow proven path.
I have about 1TB to copy over and doing a direct connection before it would crash regularly. So far I'm only around 50GB but so far so good... here's hoping. If it does crash I can't think of anything else to try...

Up until now it has crashed whenever I try to transfer 800GB or more (in several large chunks) via it's attached USB ports (tried them all) or via direct connection to a Mac or PC. As before hopefully the WD drive just doesn't work and that's why it was removed the compatible list. However, if it now fails I'll appreciate any suggestions before giving up and returning it. - It appears the drive isn't compatible or was simply defective. After swapping for the Seagate (posted earlier) restoring the 1TB back on the NV+ v2 went like a champ and right now I'm doing an attached USB backup which is motoring right along via one of the USB 3.0 ports. Moral of the story don't use the WD30EZRX in your NV+ v2... unless I got unlucky and it was defective. Now if it had simply been removed from the list a few days before I purchased mine I'd have a lot more free hours in the bank. :)
- these drives work PERFECT with large file copies with firmware version 5.3.2
Had it for over a month and copied over 5 TB of data with no issues.
BUT the new 5.3.5 totally breaks these drives and will crash your NAS on big file copies...
Is there anyone that can get ahold of the Firmware folks and let them know?
This drive is on the compatability list for the DUO V2 but not the NV+ V2 (I could of swore it was on before)
Which does not make sense since it looks like the DUO and the NV+ V2's are idendical...
Gandalf - We have 3 x WD30EZRX drives in our NV+ v2, bought as they were in the HCL. Nice work on just removing then from the list there Netgear!
Having the same issue copying over a large file (580GB).
Where do I open a ticket with these jokers??
