ReadyNAS Ultra vs NV+?
I have an opportunity to upgrade from a ReadyNAS NV+ to a ReadyNAS Ultra. In terms of performance, is there a significant difference between the two? What other benefits does the Ultra offer?
BTW, how can I tell which version of the NV+ I have?

- PapaBear1ApprenticeIf your NV+ is more than a year old it is most likely a v1. If it has a silver colored case, it definitely is a v1 and in addition the v2 is black has a power brick as opposed to an internal power supply.
The difference will be night and day, with the file transfer speed in excess of 2x as fast, and closer to 3x. However, if your NV+ is still functional, I would recommend that you put new drives in the Ultra and then transfer the files over via the network. Then you can set the NV+ up to serve as a back up unit to the Ultra. I did that when I got my first NVX. - kcrossleyAspirantThanks PapaBear. Yes, it is more than a year old and is silver, but it does have the display at the front bottom. My NV+ works great, is in excellent condition, and still has 1 year of warranty remaining. I was planning on pulling all the drives and selling the shell on eBay to help pay for the Ultra. What do you think is a fair price for the NV+?
- PapaBear1ApprenticeAs to fair value, that is a good question, probably less than what you would like and more than the buyer would like to pay.
Are you using the NV+ as a file server with all of your data on the NV+ or does it server to back up files stored on one or more PCs? - kcrossleyAspirantIt's just a backup device. I do use it to serve videos to a Mac and a Playstation 3. I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $150.
- PapaBear1ApprenticeThat's about what I have seen others listed for. You can list it on this forum's ReadyNAS Marketplace forum as well as eBay.

When you mention the increase in performance of the NV+, is that for the v1 or v2 ? - chirpaLuminaryUltra will be 3x+ the v1, and around 2x the v2.
