RN214 Failing to Update Antivirus
Hi,
For the past week I have been getting a daily alert "System: Antivirus scanner definition file update failed due to download failure. Check your Internet connection."
I have found a number of old posts on this subject where the solution has been to modify a setting, or to update ReadyNASOS. However I do not think that either of these solutions are appropriate for me:
1.) My ReadyNAS 214 is on OS v6.10.3, which is the latest that I can find. (It was updated almost as soon as this version was released).
2.) Each failure triggers an alert email, which is correctly sent. So the internet connection must be OK?
3.) SSH into the ReadyNAS and running "freshclam" as root always updates the AV and this is shown as having been updated on the ReadyNAS System Overview page and system log. So again, it must be connecting to the internet properly?
I have also seen suggestions to reboot the ReadyNAS,which I have done a few times, but this did not help. Whilst I can update the AV manually, it is becoming rather laborious - and should be automatic.
Does anyone have any other suggestions please?
Paul

To add to this, the md0 partition says - Size: 3.7G, Used: 1.7G, Avail: 1.8G, Used: 49%.
I also have a stable home broadband internet connection, and in all other respects the ReadyNAS seems to be working flawlessly.

There a couple other folks seeing issues with AV updates.

This is higher than usual. What apps are you running?
Hi,
Thanks for reply. Apps currently running:
DVBLink TV Server
Kernel Plus
linux-dash
Logitech Media Server
Transmission for ReadyNAS
So far as I am aware, there have been no recent changes, (updates etc), that co-incide with the start of this problem for me.

Dear all,
not only antivirus is failing to update. Also the cloud access sets itself form 'on' to 'off'.
I should say; Time for an update of the OS?
A3.
