WD Red 2Gb Drive (WD20EFRX) compatibility with NV+ v1
Does anyone know whether the new WD Red 2Gb drive (WD20EFRX) is compatible with the old NV+ v1?
I see the 1Gb model (WD10EFRX) and well as the old 2Gb WD2EARX listed in the hardware compatibility list, so am surprised that the WD20EFRX isn't mentioned. It is because it is incompatible or because it just hasn't been tested yet?

- hacaleeAspirantI'm confused.
I've seen loads of posts saying the WD20EFRX is on the HCL http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/20641 but I can't for the life of me see it.
Has it been taken off? If so why?
I'm looking for something pretty damn reliable, 2TB and speedy. 4 of them will be going in to a Readnas NV+ V1 in a multimedia suite in the college I work at I.E. lots of people will be reading and writing Logic, Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut, Pro Tools files.
Another option is the WD2002FAEX but are they actually better? they're definitely almost double the price!
Someone with more knowledge than me, let me know what to buy. Price isn't actually that much of an issue but reliability and speed sure are!
Thanks,
Marcus - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYour are correct, it isn't on the HCL - most likely because the NV+ v1 has been out of production for so long. It is on the list for the newer models.
Is your nv+ still under warranty (or under support contract?) - hacaleeAspirantYou know what? I actually have no idea.
I started at the job 3 year ago and they already had it. I'm guessing they got it when they installed the suite it's located in, so maybe it's about 5 years old....?
I'll have a closer look through our huge file of purchase orders tomorrow.
Cheers,
Marcus - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserSome of them might be 5-year, mine was 3 years when I purchased (and has expired).
Netgear can/will deny support if you go off the HCL, but if the warranty is expired that doesn't really matter much. The WD20EFRX is a better choice than most of the drives on the list (assuming you can actually find them). - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredOdd. I was sure the WD20EFRX was on the list and now I check and I can't see it there. I can see the WD10EFRX there though.

That was my recollection as well.mdgm wrote: Odd. I was sure the WD20EFRX was on the list and now I check and I can't see it there. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAre you still under warranty?

I still have the same question. Is the WD20EFRX compatible? I love my NV+, I have had it since the Infrant days and I would love to keep it running. The saving of the WD20EFRX over the WD2002FAEX would be worth it to me, plus I already have WD20EFRX in my ReadyNax Pro6 and it would be nice to have a common disk in the two units. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe WD RED WD10EFRX is listed for the NV+ v1, but the WD20EFRX is not. The WD20EFRX is on the list for the NV+ v2.
The WD20EFRX runs well in my duo v1, and if you are not under warranty anyway you might as well go with it.
