Need help compiling Automatic for Duo
I found Automatic and want to use it with Transmission. I've gotten a lot of packages installed on my Duo to compile, but I'm stuck. Here is the error I'm getting:
Automatic is here
http://kylek.is-a-geek.org:31337/Automatic/
and here for support
http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop ... f=1&t=5199
I figured this would be the best place to ask, since I'm wanting to compile on the Duo.
I search the web for a bin file of it or for instructions that someone already shared, but I had no such luck.
checking for LIBXML... configure: error: Package requirements (libxml-2.0 >= 2.6.31) were not met:
Requested 'libxml-2.0 >= 2.6.31' but version of libXML is 2.6.16
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables LIBXML_CFLAGS
and LIBXML_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

- super_poussinVirtuosoIf you upgrade libxml2 frontview Will crash
- aresgodofwar30AspirantThank you for telling me. I'm glad I asked here first!
Do you have any ideas for a workaround or would it be best for me to contact the developer? - ptathAspirantstill no luck?
- samsam1AspirantI have a DUO and wouldn't mind this, did you get anywhere with it ?
- aresgodofwar30AspirantTurns out the libxml automatic requires is newer than what can be installed on the duo. With the help of the developer I modified configure.in to require a lesser version but when running autoreconf command it complains some more about not being able to find perl
I checked the paths I have set and perl is there.
I'll have to get with the developer again and see if he can give me more assistance. - super_poussinVirtuoso

BTW do not upgrade perl or you will loose frontview - aresgodofwar30Aspirantso pretty much dont update anything or i lose frontview.
got it.
sounds like frontview is holding the readynas back - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe Sparc firmware is still compatible with ReadyNas released years ago. To update everything to the latest version would basically require redesigning the firmware from the ground up.
- aresgodofwar30Aspirantare you saying that the devs have dropped work on the duo and are unwilling to do any updates?

No. But the base firmware that the Sparc firmware uses is quite old. So updating some things to the latest version would require rebuilding the firmware from scratch or porting the incompatible update so it can work with the rest of the Sparc firmware. These things take time and NetGear would have to prioritise what they work on.
