ReadyNASRemoteUpgrade.exe disables network adapter
I am just configuring a new ReadyNas and had set up ReadyNASRemote when it informed me I had to upgrade. I just downloaded and ran the upgrade but it modifies and disables the network adapter and I have to unistall it to get my network & the internet back. Not good Netgear...please fix this ASAP as it will not allow me to run the regular download without upgrading.

I guess it seems most likely that your router is blocking ReadyNAS Remote somehow.
I guess you could try the port forwarding and see if that helps.
Edit: Have you tried clearing the web browser cache e.g. Temporary Internet Files? - kingbadgerAspirantGreat idea on temp internet files....no luck. Thanks for your help on a Sunday...
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI guess you'll need to see if a ReadyNAS Remote expert can help with your issue (apart from chirpa, the moderators of this forum are).
- kingbadgerAspirantI even tried putting my ReadyNas's IP in my router's DMZ, still no luck.
Saw one old trail about issues with Kaspersky (Which I am running) - but pausing protection didnt help. I'll see if one of the experts can help - cap1AspirantPlease IM me and I will fix it.
Thanks - UscholdMAspirantI dowloaded the most recent version (1.6.5.16) of RNR at the main download site. https://remote.readynas.com/download.html
It uninstalled the existing version first w/o me having to do it manually. It worked right away, no problems. It must have retained settings etc.
So, I'm good to go. - kingbadgerAspirantJust to close my thread - CAP1 helped me sort my issue: in the end it had been caused because I had changed the name of my ReadyNas from lower case to upper case, tripping a rare bug. Solution was simply to revert to lower case and hey presto. CAP1 says it will be fixed in a future ReadyNas firmware release.
Many thanks CAP1 - johngmlAspirantI got a ReadyNAS Duo for my business to share files. Massive failure on that part. Nightmare to set up as I am not a network engineer, the telephone support is crap and then I find that the recommended ReadyNAS Remote software disables the internet connection on most computers when they are restarted. The only answer appears to be a system restore. I am running the very latest version of the software and when installed I can access my ReadyNAS as I want but when I restart the computer I am left with no connection. Tried the suggestion of installing the other software which just screws everything up and I cannot access anything. This is happening on three out of four computers at present so I dare not get anyone else to install it. Very very poor. I had a Netgear router at home which was brilliant but I have cancelled any further purchase of Netgear products based on what I have experienced and what I have read here. They have not covered themselves in glory and appear to be adapting an attitude of "ignore it and it will go away". If there is anyone that can help or offer advice I would be very grateful or I will have to find a way of returning what is obviously a defective device not fit for purpose.
- JarnoGGuideI had a bit of problems with it at first too. Readynas remote makes it's own network adapter and my Windows classified that as a LAN-adapter. As a result the SecureW2 from my work decided it could drop the wireless connection since it now had a LAN connection and you see where that gets to be a problem... It also shut down my LAN connection btw, but I wasn't using that at that moment.
Uninstalling SecureW2 did the trick. I had to configure the wireless manually afterwards, but everything is working now.
