Browser and Finder access problems
Model: ReadyNAS NV+ - tried typing it in, but it wasn't accepted.
Computer: Mac Mini, OS: OS 10.9.5.
Three User accounts on the machine: 'Admin' (the only one with admin privileges), 'Username', and 'Testing'.
This is a four-bay NAS box, and I have two 2Tb disks in it. I have since bought a ReadyNAS NV+ V2, and have transferred nearly everything off of the old box. But now I want to use this original box for other stuff, and I'm having problems accessing it.
The only user account I can access it at all from is 'Username', where I can access it only from the Finder. If I try it in the other accounts (same username and password), it just wobbles at me, and won't let me in! From 'Username', I can only see the one share, 'home', and I know there are others.
And I can't access it at all through my browser (Firefox 44.0.2), because the same name/password combination doesn't work. I have transferred nearly 1Tb of data onto the box in my 'Username' account, and now I need to be able to access it in the 'Testing' and 'Admin' accounts. But I can't!
So in summary:
Browser access in all three User accounts - no
Finder access in 'Colm' - yes, but only for the 'home' share
Finder access in 'Admin' and 'Testing' - no
I'm sure there's other stuff I should've mentioned but haven't, so glad to answer any questions to clarify.
Hope someone can help me, TIA. :)
Cheers

Do you remember the admin password?
What firmware is running on the NAS (RAIDar can tell you even if you can't log in). If the firmware is very old you might have a browser compatibility issue.

Hello colmosiris,
If you are trying to access the admin page, "admin" user account is the only account that should be able to get in. As StephenB mentioned, it could be a browser compatibility issue, try using an older one like IE9.
Knowing the FW version is also important, if NAS is running a 5.3.x then you have an RND4000v2 (ReadyNAS NV+ v2), if it is a 4.1.x then that is RND4000v1 (ReadyNAS NV+ v1.
See these two articles that may help recover the password:
I lost the administrator password for my Duo v2 or NV+ v2; how can I recover it?
** the last article works with Duo v1 and NV+ v1 too

Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly.
Yes, the password is held for me in Dashlane. It's a random string.
Ah yes, that could well be the browser issue. The firmware is 4.1.8. On the newer box I have, it's 5.3.8. Should they be the same? If so, how do I update it, please?
This won't solve the issue of not being able to access it in the Finder in other accounts though. I'd assumed what I had was two different aspects of the same problem, but they could well be two unrelated problems!

Thanks Jen. I think I may have not made clear that the 'Admin' account I'm talking about is the Mac's User account, and not the 'admin' username for the NAS box.
I do know the password. It just doesn't work! The only place it does work is in the Finder in one of the User Accounts, but not in the others, and not in the browser in any account. By contrast, my ReadyNAS NV+ V2 box works fine in both browser and Finder on all User accounts, and the password is saved in the keychain, as well as in Dashlane.
Cheers
