I am having an issue with my ReadyNAS Ultra 2 and WDTV Live, all with latest Firmware etc etc: After pretty much 30mins (i have timed it) the WDTV will stop seeing the ReadyNAS and I will have to go to setup and refind the DNLA media server running on the ReadyNAS. I have tested this using a simple windows share on my Laptop and the WDTV live has no problems streaming and doesn't drop out, so it must be a setting on the ReadyNAS . . . . Any Clues? :(
I also run Plex aswell as Netgears DNLA on the NAS and experience exactly the same issue

- gezzyboyAspirantSorry vandermerwe I didn't catch that last post, yes I've done all that but I only see windows shares sofar not SMB or NFS, see above i'm chasing this SSDP issue which might be the root cause of my timeout problems with the 2 devices.
- vandermerweMasterIs the readynas in the right workgroup - the same as the windows PC? The NAS and wdtv must be in the same workgroup.
You should be able to check this from your PC - does the readynas appear in Network and sharing centre?
You can change the workgroup name of the readynas if you need to.
Is there any setting in the wdtv live to manually enter a network share path? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserSince accessing the network share is working on the WDTV (the problem is limited to DLNA) it seems unlikely that the problem to be related to file permissions or workgroups. The fact that the movie simply stops in the middle of playback also suggests that the the cause lies elsewhere.
The ssdp frequency is a possibility. Some people have found that turning off upnp services on their router helps dlna discovery (as sometimes these services amount to a upnp proxy, which can get in the way). Again,if the WDTV is connected wirelessly, look carefully at the wifi router settings and see if there is any checkbox related to broadcast or multicast. If there are, make sure such services are enabled. - vandermerweMasterStephenB, gezzyboy cannot see the shares on the readynas from the wdtv.

I thought he said that he did...vandermerwe wrote: StephenB, gezzyboy cannot see the shares on the readynas from the wdtv. gezzyboy wrote: Cheers Steve, I did setup a windows share with the WDTV with no problems or drop outs and I don't have probs sharing from Plex on mobile devices on the network over wifi, so I wonder if it is the ReadyDNLA at fault?
If he in fact did not do this test between a NAS share and the WDTV, then I agree that he should get that working before we go any further - I suggested that a couple of times already in previous posts. - vandermerweMaster

I have set up the Media folder on the NAS with CIFS or NFS, however when I try Network Shares it sees windows shares but when I open that I only see my Laptop and network printer, where is the Media flder on the NAS? Am I missing something?
Yes I thought he had had success too, but then he wrote this. He obviously literally meant a windows share, rather than a cifs network share on the readynas. - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Then we agree he should fix that first. If I have some spare time I will fire up my WDTV and try it with my RN102. (It's been a while since I used it, my EVA9150s are my everyday players).vandermerwe wrote: gezzyboy wrote: PS You mentioned trying Network Shares instead of using the DNLA Server on the NAS. Hope you find a solution. - gezzyboyAspirant

Check cifs and nfs and make sure initially that guest access is enabled for cifs and that default access for nfs is read or read write.
Wen you click on network shares do you only see windows shares as an option?
I have just setup network sharing now, avoiding the DNLA on the NAS,let's see if that works with out a drop out! - gezzyboyAspirantI have somehow managed to get the WDTV to see the NAS directly by changing the windows share name from WORKGROUP to the name of my NAS?!! I was able to see the folders and use the Network Share Library mananger (on the WDTV) to add the relevent media files from the NAS, it's now apparently compiling a database of my files, let's see if it can acurratley report the contents of the media library and actually play files uninterupted !
