How to (completely) unistall Twonky 6?
Hi,
How to completely remove Twonky 6?
I tried and did not find enough reasons to pay for it so how do I remove it?
Seems that it leaves behind some directories and entries in some databases so e.g. my TV still sees Twonky share. Same with explorer, Twonky directories are there but can not access.
In reboot I get now error about missing twonky directory :(

- randymchAspirantSorry guys but is there a noob's guide to editing the samba file?
Also noticed that after installing TwonkyMedia my 'media' share shows up twice on the root folder in Windows. I see 'media' (with lower case 'm') and 'Media' (with capital 'M')???
Any help greatly appreciated.
Kyle, Leeds - super_poussinVirtuosoDis you try the cleaner addon ?
- super_poussinVirtuosoyou can not have twonky and squeeze runing together
the twonky RC3 should solve your issue install it and remove it to clean the twonkymedia directories - margava1AspirantI can't remove twonky from NVX using the links above.
Could you help?
Thank you, - margava1AspirantI want to use Squeezebox Server and port used is 9000 and twonky is not allowing to use the SqueezeBox.
How could I uninstall Twonky and use again the port 9000 ?
Thank you for the help - margava1AspirantAnyone could help me in how to uninstall the twonky 6 ? I can't use the Squeeze Server because of that. I installed the Twonky 6.0.1 and it didn't fixed the IP conflict with Squeeze Server
- nharberAspirantHi,
I'm not now having exactly the same problem. I have installed the latest Twonky version, decided it wasn't for me, I uninstalled it and now have no access to all my Media. My Media directory is there, along with other folders I have created, but the media that ised to be in there such as Photos and Music is gone/
I do seem to have a new directory (when viewed from Windows Explorer) called twonkymedia, but I can't access it. If I look in Frontview, I have a new share called media (small 'm').
The usage of disc has not changed, so I know the contents are there, I just can't get access.
Any ideas ? Starting to wish I hadn't even tried this addon :-(

same problem for me, the only solution was to edit the following file and to remove the twonkymedia entries. Just be carefull by editing this file.
/etc/frontview/samba/Shares.conf
Hope it's help. Regards.

Hey Eric - how did you do this - edit the files I mean ?
Nick - nharberAspirantSo I eventually managed to clear this up.
I needed to installed the EnableRoot addon from Netgear. From there i installed WinSCP (Google it) and was able to SSH into the ReadyNAS.
Taking it very carefully, I found that there were still a number of references to Twonky left with the file strutcures and files. Primarily in the Samba files and directories, but also unsed "shortcuts". Deleting these one by one led me back to having control of my media again (small m and capital M media share!"). I finally deleted the small m media share and was able to see all my media again from Windows.
The only error I then still saw was after a ReadyNAS reboot. It was still looking from Twonkymedia!!!. A PM to super-poussin saw this error removed.
If you aren't confident navigating your way around the internal workings of the ReadyNAS - then don't try this.
Thanks for you help,
Nick - super_poussinVirtuosoTry 6.0.30 it should uninstall twonky correctly
I'm trying to find a way to prevent system (not twonky) to create a media directory if not exist.
The 1st solution could be to set Twonky root to / instead of /media , but it means twonky will scan all the nas at 1st start
