How to read X-Raid drive on PC?
My 4 drive ReadyNas NV+ started to have sector errors on disc 3. To fix it I shutdown the unit (I know I did not need to) and replaced drive 3. Now my unit wont power up. :-(
I need to access my files in the short term until I decide what I want to do in the long term i.e. get a new ReadyNas unit or fix the power supply or whatever is wrong on my NV+.
So my question is how do I read the data off of my 4 disc (or now 3 good discs and 1 slightly bad disc) X-Raid array from a PC?
Thank you in advance for any help provided!

- RXLuminaryWill it boot up normally without the replacement disk3 inside?
Is the replacement disk3 within the compatibility list of hard drives for NV+?
What is the current firmware version of your NAS? - NhellieVirtuoso
- joja15AspirantIxa - I did try removing drive 3 and it still would not boot up. The new drive 3 is on the list of approved drives. I do not remember what firmware version is on it but I am pretty sure it is the latest as I had the unit setup to email me when new firmware upgrades were available and I would always update to the latest when that occured.
NHellie - I had seen that article in my research and I was a little confused about how to find out if my serial number was within that range. My serial number is the following: SN# 1S9586RS00267 - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt's not in the range.
Can you read this article, and tell us what NV+ platform you own? - http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
Also, when did you purchase it (warranty is 3 years). - joja15Aspirant

I do not remember when I purchased it but it is definitely much older then 3 years old. So it is definitely out of warranty.
Based on the link you provided and looking at the back it looks like I have a NV+ v1. The model is RND4250-100NAS - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI thought that was likely given your forum join data, but it is helpful to be sure.
It is possible to access the RAID array in an x86 linux system (assuming enough USB or SATA connectors). The procedure is here: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=306
If you don't have a backup, you could also try paid support at support.netgear.com - joja15Aspirant

OK, so I would hook the four drives up to a PC with linux installed and then run the commands on that link you provided? I had seen that link in my research but I was unsure if that would work on a 4 drive X-Raid or only for a single drive.
Should I back up the drives using Clonezilla first so I have a backup of them in case I do anything wrong trying to read them on a PC?
Thank you again for all the help!!! - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserNot sure you need to clone them all (but it does no harm). You could try cloning disk 3 (but if you need to use the clone, some file corruption is likely)

I am trying to connect to the website but it seems to be done. It presents a database connection errors. Does anyone have a copy of the info of the website or a way to view an archived copy of it?
Thanks - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserYou can see it with the wayback machine (https://web.archive.org/web/20140711191 ... ver/?p=306)
