IP problems

I've had some problems with my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 recently, i thought it was dead because it wouldn't start anymore but after unplugging it for a few hours it started working back.

The only problem now is that my NAS is using the wrong IP address.

It is supposed to use 192.168.2.10 and always used this IP before. But now, RAIDar says that the IP is 192.168.2.100

However when i go to the NAS configuration panel (in network settings) the IP is set to 192.168.2.10. It also says that the NAS is currently offline even if it is running fine right now.

.10 IP is not used by any other devices in my network.

Maybe try configuring the NAS to use DHCP, and then reconfigure it to use the 192.168.2.10 static address?

Just tried doing that, it still gives me 192.168.2.100 as IP :(
  • Anarchoi ,
Unusual case. Your RAIDar screenshot shows 2 different NAS's,
one on 2.100 and the 2nd on 192.168.2.11.

    router /DHCP server?
A 2nd suggestion is to do an OS-reinstall. This would reset IP to
default, and it would pick up DHCP.

    Thanks Marto.

This is normal, i have two different NAS
1x ReadyNAS Ultra 4 (supposed to be 192.168.2.10, currently on 192.168.2.100)
1x ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus (192.168.2.11, working correctly)

Sorry i don't know what it is so i can't tell if i have that active or not.

The NAS was working perfectly 1 week ago and it suddently started changing IP by itself. I haven't touched anything to my router configuration or even to readynas configuration since many months, so i don't think it is a router problem. Also my other ReadyNAS (the "plus" one) has the same config and it is working perfectly right now.

If you have recently moved your Ultra 4's Ethernet cable from one port to the other, move it back.

yep, i think i did switch the ethernet cables recently. I just tried switching them back, but the IP is still 192.168.2.100 after reboot :(

"Cables", plural? I was suggesting that just one end of one cable was moved -- from one of the sockets on the back of your Ultra 4 to the other socket on the back of your Ultra 4. Each socket has its own MAC; your router probably can't be configured to assign .10 to both MACs, so if it sees the wrong one it will just pick an IP address out of its DHCP pool, which probably starts at .100.

Oh i just got what you mean, i thought you was talking about switching the cables between my Ultra 4 and my Ultra 4 Plus

I did change the ethernet port of my Ultra 4 and it actually fixed the problem.

    Thanks !
