NV+ FW 4.1.7
I have a new NV+, with a label underneath "FW 4.1.7"
I have a set of disks, from a NV+ that was upgraded to Raidiator 4.1.10.
Will the two work, or do I have to convince the NV+ to update its firmware before plugging in the disks?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt will work, but if you ever do an OS-reinstall, 4.1.7 would be reinstalled.
That probably isn't a big deal, and would be resolved when/if 4.1.11 is released and installed. But if you have a spare disk, you can install that first, then update the firmware. Then power down, and substitute your existing disks. - smartwombatAspirantSo there is no way to upgrade the firmware without a working disk in the unit.
I'll get the spare 1T that was going in the windows desktop, initialise as XRaid 1 disk, then upgrade to 4.1.10
I go the impression from here viewtopic.php?f=7&t=68210 that it wouldn't work.

It is very likely that the firmware in the flash is older than that on your array.
The firmware in the flash should be at least as new as the firmware on the disks."
But maybe that's for the NV and not the NV+. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIt's best to have the the firmware in the flash matches what's on the disk.
If the firmware in the flash was extremely old, then it is possible that the disks wouldn't boot. That scenario happens if the newer firmware requires a bios update in the NAS.
That isn't the case between 4.1.7 and 4.1.10, so the newer disks would boot. Again, the impact of ignoring the "should be at least as new" is that an OS reinstall or factory default would end up downgrading to the older 4.1.7 firmware.
So in your particular case it isn't that big a deal. But since it is easy for you to fix it, you should. - smartwombatAspirantYep, up and running on the disks from the failed NAS with no problem.
