ReadyNAS 104 shuts down with no reason
Hello,
I have a ReadyNas 104 (firmware 6.4.0) with two disks inside (WD40EFRX and WD20EARS), in "JBOD".
Two days ago i found it turned off. I checked the logs (web) but I didn't find any entry related to the shutdown. Also I saw the new fw 6.4.2, but I preferred not to install it because the sudden shutdown.
Today, I've found it turned off again. No logs, no info. I've downloaded the logs and haven't found anything.
I haven't had any power failure, I haven't seen any temp issue or similar... the disks seems to be ok (at least, is what the admin page/Performance/Status says). I have the alerts configured and haven't received anything, just the typical "Volume data usage exceeds 70% of size (3.6 TB)." when I booted it again, nothing else.
Any idea? I don't want to upgrade the fw because this issue. I've seen a similar post here (https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/ReadyNAS-104-keeps-shutting-down/td-p/1058609) but I haven't received any alerts related to the disks, so I don't know how to proceed.
Thank you in advance
You could request an RMA. The problem doesn't seem software related, since it survives a factory reset. And the disks are passing the diags, which leaves the chassis and power brick.

If you don't have a backup, you should make one. You could then try running a balance, defrag, and scrub on the two volumes.
I suggest that you then disable the anvirus service (if it is running) and try upgrading to 6.4.2.
Someone from Netgear might also want to look at your logs.

Thank you very much StephenB and mdgm for the replys.
I've sent the logs and started to backup the most important files. I'll wait for some advice from mdgm and then I'll try the upgrade.
Regards,
