For background on how I somehow got to this point:viewtopic.php?f=22&t=36105&start=0I'm moving to this forum, because it's essentially a different question than I started with.The short version: My ReadyNAS Pro was working fine. Then I tried to update Squeezebox Server. Now I can't start Squeezebox Server, can't start Mysql, and can't do anything via apt-get. Plus probably other stuff.The problem seems to be that BusyBox's 'logger' command doesn't accept the -i option, which the normal 'logger' command does accept. And /etc/init.d/mysql expects to use logger -i. As do apt-get postinstall scripts. And probably a lot of other things. So they all fail.Does anyone know how this might have happened to me? Using the community add-ons provided e.g. the ones by super-poussin is a good idea. Installing not using add-ons on a production system is not a good idea if you haven't tested it out on another machine.I'd backup your data, do a config backup, factory default and restore config backup, then restore backup of data.

I don't have another 2TB disk to back up to, so I can't really reset to factory default.I tried to do an OS reinstall (as shown here: faq.php#How_do_I_re-install_the_firmware%3F), but it didn't solve the problem. It "worked", I think -- passwords are reset, some file dates are new -- but it didn't fix the problem at all. To repeat, I get this error all the time: Setting up mysql-server-5.0 (5.0.32-7etch8) ...Stopping MySQL database server: mysqld.logger: invalid option -- iBusyBox v1.14.3 (2009-08-12 21:37:19 UTC) multi-call binaryUsage: logger [OPTION]... Hi vesper76, Did you solve your problem ?I have got exactly the same problem, mysql can't start because the logger don't know the "-i" argument.If you solved your problem, can you tell me how ?If someone has got a solution ...thanks@++Dwarf

A firmware re-installation will likely fix the problem. This does not affect your data, however, it will reset your admin password to 'netgear1' and reset the network settings to default settings (DHCP, no jumbo frames, no teaming, etc.):faq.php#How_do_I_re-install_the_firmware%3F

I don't know if I have the same or different problem. If it's not the same please let me know and I'll go from there. ReadyNAS Pro shows Squeezebox, but when I try to access it, either through RAIDiator or by going straight through browser <myip>:9000 I am unable to connect. Does this sound like the same issue? If so, can someone please supply 'instructions for idiots' on how to fix it?

Hi, I'm having the same problem with my ReadyNAS NVX.

I even sent an email to busybox chaps to see if they know, just found this particular post.

My logger does exist, but also doesn't support the "-i" command. First, logger didn't even exist but I found it in the bsdmainutils apt-get package.

I'd also like a copy of this logger please - and some instructions on permission setting would also help!!

My 'mysql' is really messed up after an updated squeezecenter... sigh.

Also, is it perhaps an idea to put this logger file and instructions on the forum somewhere - I can imagine everybody sending each other emails and PMs can be better?

P.S. there's a much newer version of busybox out there (17.2) - is there a way to upgrade this? (and maybe it'll automatically resolve itself... he says, wishful thinking...)

I have the same issue and having not been successful in compiling the 1.17 or 1.70 version in the GPL or from Busybox I'm up a creek.

Ok. How do I go about "restoring" the original busybox?

Went through the pain of doing a complete factory restore and everything was good. I completely avoided any type of apt-get upgrade. Life was good and then for no good reason my "logger" is broken again.

I sure would like to have the re-compiled logger or busybox binary... wink wink. Anyone have it? Forward it to me? Please.

Went through the PAIN of a factory reset. Copied all the busybox binaries, installed all my goodies, and copied the busybox binaries back. Everything is now functional on my absolutely awesome Pro.

I have the same problem, I ran an apt-get upgrade and now mySQL is not starting because of the -i logger problem.
Can somebody please send me the compiled logger file?
