2014 mac mini network connection dropping connected to netgear JGS524PE
I'm running a 2014 mac mini i5 8gb ram bought from the apple store approx. 4 weeks ago.
It came pre-installed with El Capitan and I've kept it up to date with updates currently at 10.11.4
I've got all networking disabled apart from the on board Ethernet which is plugged into a Netgear JGS524PE
The mac responds fine on the network for day to day use, but if I copy a file up onto the machine - any size but it's more obvious with bigger files, the transfer stops and the network card resets it's self.
For example

if I plug this is into a different unmanaged netgear switch using the same cable - there is zero issue.
There are other devices on the Netgear JGS524PE that are working just fine and have no problems.
The JGS524PE is up to date with the current firmware (2.0.1.17) , and I've tried different ports and different cables, bottom line is this mac is not happy with this switch.
The port speed is auto negotiated up to 1000FDX and is seen fine by the mac, flow control is disabled on the switch
what should I be looking at here to get this mac
Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Hi ikonia,
Welcome to the community! :)
Since other networking devices works just fine with the JGS524PE switch, let us isolate the problem. Kindly answer the questions below:
a. Just to verify, if you transfer a file from another PC/laptop to the MAC mini or from the MAC mini to another PC/laptop through the JGS524PE switch, the file transfer just suddenly stops?
b. What is the behavior of the port LED light(s) on the port where the MAC mini is connected to on the JGS524PE?
c. You mentioned that the port speed on the MAC mini is set to Auto, have you tried to manually set it to 1000Mbps? If not yet, kindly try it then observe if same problem occurs.
d. Does same problem happens on your other MAC mini(s) or MACbook(s) or MAC desktop(s)?
e. Is the JGS524PE directly connected to a router? If yes, kindly try to disconnect the JGS524PE then connect the MAC mini directly to the router, does same problem occurs?
I look forward to your response.
Regards,
DaneA
