GSM7328SV2 not able to uplink to GS724TPS

there is a GSM7328SV2 connected to GS724TPS

The GSM7328SV2 is not able to ping to the GS724TPS

reset to factory defaults the GSM7328SV2 and updated the firmware to 8.0.3.25 ( latest )

GSM7328SV2 is able to ping between two desktops connected to it
IP of Switch is 192.168.2.49
IP of Desktops are 192.168.2.48 and 192.168.2.47

47 and 48 ping to 49
47 pings to 48

IP of GS724TPS is 192.168.2.20
This switch is able to talk to all the other devices connected to it
within the same subnet ie 192.168.2.xxx

However the using a device connected to GSM7328SV2 we cannot ping to any device connected to the GS724TPS

ie 192.168.2.47 cannot ping to 192.168.2.20 ( GS724TPS ) or to any of the devices connected to GSM724TPS

The GSM7328SV2 has been set to the IP thru ezconfig also tried thru the web interface

Webmanage of the GSM7328SV2 is working thru a desktop connected to one of its ports

The uplink port connected to GS724TPS shows it is up
this is indicated thru the port lights as well as shown thru the webview

could the problem because the GS724TPS is all POE

The firmware of the GS724TPS is 5.0.0.23 ( latest )

should not the factory defaults work out of the box

-----------------------------------------------

second issue

there are two GS724TPS connected by the stack method
they work trouble free when stacked ( latest fw 5.0.0.23 )

however when the stack is removed and they are connected thru
the cascade method then one of the switches hangs about twice a day

problem is confirmed as it repeats

when the gs724tps switch hangs the port lights go out and power on-off does not solve the problem
The only way to get it back working is by pushing the hard reset pin

However when cascade cable is removed and the switches stacked the same switches work reliably .. tested for several days

Re: GSM7328SV2 not able to uplink to GS724TPS

I replaced the GS724TPS with another identical switch GS724TPS : problem persists

I replaced the GSM7328SV2 with another GSM7328SV2 : problem persists

I replaced the GS724TPS with a Linksys 10/100 mbps the network works

conclusion : the GSM7328SV2 does not ping to the GS724TPS

Will Netgear test this in their lab and confirm

is it something to do with the POE

Re: GSM7328SV2 not able to uplink to GS724TPS

Disabling Spanning Tree Protocol on the GS724TPS solves the communication problem

However every few hours the GS724TPS hangs
Power led and unit I'd led remain on but all port LEDs go off
Communication stops
Switching off and on does not bring up the switch
Port LEDs remain off after power cycle

Only way to start up is push a pin in the factory defaults
And go and disable STP all over again as factory default is STP enabled

Still waiting for Netgear to find a solution
