Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Hello sndlt,

Welcome to the community!

I would like to know if you have tried to configure LLDP using the web interface of the swicth. Please refer to the image below for reference:

LLDP-global.png

For configuring LLDP uisng the web ui, please click this link. You should be able to find LLDP global configuration of pages 104 up to 166 for LLDP-MED.

I hope using the web UI will help you with the configuration. I'll be looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Thank you. I'll try that tomorrow when I get to office.

So this means I have to give interface(mgmt) an ip to access?

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Hello sndlt,

Yes, you'll have to give it an IP address for web access. You can follow this old version of the install guide found on our product support page, the document is a bit old but still applies.

I'll look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Having trouble getting a private IP from the department that manages IP addresses.

Is it possible to set a point-to-point straight layer 3 interface between a netgear port and my PC?

After that, I would get rid of the lay 3 interface in switch.

Would that disable LLDP once it's been activated?

Thanks!

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Hello sndlt,

You can use a computer with a static IP when there is no DHCP present. The switch has a default IP of 169.254.100.100, subnet 255.255.255.0. Just set the PC's IP to the same range and you should be able to access it. Once you have done this, Web Loging should be available. I don't believe the layer 3 interface is needed at this point.

Hope that helps! Feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

Thanks,

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Just gave it management IP and http into it.

However, I don't see a LLDP per screenshot below.

Do I need to update firmware or is it just not available in this model?

Thanks.

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Hello sndlt,

It appears that you are using the version 1 model of the switch, the LLDP feature is not available for this model. The GSM7248v1 has been an end-of-life model for years now, the last firmware posted is dated 2008. You might need to consider getting a newer version if you want to implement LLDP.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks,

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Thank you for your time.

So is it simple as upgrading the firmware to the latest?

or do we have to replace the whole hardware?

Thank you again.

Re: LLDP on ProSafe GSM7248

Hello sndlt,

You're welcome. I have checked the notes for the firmware release, LLDP was not mentioned. You'll have to upgrade your hardware, I think it is about time anyway. 🙂

You can check some of our swicthes here.

Thanks,
