Netgear Prosafe plus GS116e Switch problem with accessing NFS server

Whiched out router and now running NAS through my swtch above.  All access to the NFS server now is extreme slow response time. All connections to my network come off this switch. Running a Synology nas.  When I hooked up an unmanaged switch everything was back to normal. I have hear issues in the past for some netgear managed switches haveing issues with NFS.  Updated to the latest firmware and still no improvement.  All managed settings are to factory reset. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jmacjr,

Welcome to the community,

As you described the plus switch performance should be the same as a unmanaged switch, so first you should turn off all the features that you are not using and use the monitoring tools that the GS116E has:

  1. Turned off IGMP snooping ( Page 16 http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/GS105EV2/WebManagedSwitches_UM_EN.pdf)
  2. Check port statistics ( Page 76 http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/GS105EV2/WebManagedSwitches_UM_EN.pdf) Is there any error in the NAS port or any other device?
  3. Check Link Speed/ Duplex ( Page 58 http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/GS105EV2/WebManagedSwitches_UM_EN.pdf) Is linked to the correct speed? If not could you update the network drivers on the NAS

In order to identify the problem it will also help if you can do a port mirrroring and capture the packets using a tool like wireshark.

Hope that it helps

Those done and no problems noted. Bought an unmanaged switch and relized still have same problem so not a problem with this switch. Continuing to try and figure out why the problems with NFS server on my Synology box.

Thanks for the help.
