Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

After I erased Sparsebundle, I was able to restart TM backup by clicking on "Enable" button to turn off (see attached pic), then immediately clicking on it again (to turn on). Type in new password, then click "Apply" & "OK". Started right up.

Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

Seriously no longer need access to old Mac Time Machine data anymore?

If yes: Here you go -> ReadyNAS: Removing Time Machine data

Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

No need for old Mac backup because I always seem need to start over with new Mac (not sure why). Thank you for your reply. I’ve seen that but don’t know which address to use to connect to server. Greg

RAIDar can tell you the IP address of the NAS.

You can also find it in your router's attached device list.

FWIW, you should also be able to use the NAS hostname.

Thank you. I will check that out. Not sure what the NAS hostname is.

Have you tried the second method in @schumaku's link?

What error/problem are you having?

Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

I don't know what " (previously defined through Time Machine setup in Frontview)" means to get password.

Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

I think the problem here might be that I don't know what my Time Machine password is. Any way to find or change it?

Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

Define (or change) the password here https://kb.netgear.com/22810/How-do-I-back-up-Time-Machine-data-to-my-ReadyNAS-OS-6-storage-system

To back up data on your Mac to your ReadyNAS system using Time Machine:

  1. On the local admin page for your ReadyNAS, select Backup > Time Machine

Here you can define the password.

Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

Thank you. I've tried that but after I entered a new password and click on "Apply" it reverts to old password.

Re: Netgear rn21200 NAS

https://kb.netgear.com/31027/How-do-I-map-a-network-drive-in-Mac-OS-X

Hostname/Sharename--

IP address is Hostname

timemachine is Sharename

If your Time Machine backup is AFP, use this instead of SMB.

Click on timemachine in Finder window.

Right (control) click on Sparsebundle & choose "Move to Trash".

My Sparsebundle was huge & took hours to delete.

Re-choose backup Disk (I chose timemachine local drive, same as before).

I'm waiting to complete first Backup. Wish me luck.
