Power loss

I'm experiencing power loss to my NAS. What should I check first the power supply on the cord, or presume the power source inside the NAS has failed.

Re: Power loss

Which NAS model?  How old?  Any circumstances surrounding the power loss?

Re: Power loss

It's a ReadyNAS Ultra II. I'd say that I've had it since 2011.

The warranty is 3 years

If you are seeing no lights and hearing no fan noise then it is most likely the power brick.  If you google it, you will find some compatible bricks.

Re: Power loss

Hello pumpchump,

I checked your profile and found that the ReadyNAS Ultra 2 that you have registered is already out of warranty.

You might want to buy power adapter from support team.

Re: Power loss

I agree, probably the power brick.  You may even already have a compatible one lying around.  It's a 12V, 5A supply and uses the typical connector for that.  Most any supply with those specs (or even more current) will work.  12V surveillance cameras use the same connection.  If you have something with just a couple amp capability, you conld see if it will power it up without the drives installed, just to verify it's the supply before buying another.
