RN314 Disk corruption
I've had this RN314 for a few yeras now but its been nothing but headaches, Right now Its holding my data hostage. It Keeps telling me error 0x80070570 The File or Data is corrupted - I am running the NAS as a Raid-5 so i had hopes that a scrub should fix this issues. But it did not. Ther are no disk errors in Smart. I am currently Migrating my data to the cloud
If this was only 1 or 2 files no big issues but as of now its over 20% of all the files on the drive. The good news is the files seem to still be playable and work for me if i manually navigate to them...
If this was windows I'd run a check Disk on them, but I dont know what to do with this RN.
HELP.

Re: RN314 Disk corruption
What firmware are you running?
There is a disk test in the system - click on the settings wheel on the volume tab to access it.

Re: RN314 Disk corruption
What ever the most current version is (6.9.3); Disk check has been running for 3 or 4 days so far found nothing. They are 8TB WD NAS RedPros.

That's a long time. My last test took about 13 hours with 4x6TB (WD60EFRX). My array is 25% smaller, but your disks are faster...
If you have ssh enabled, you might want to log in and check the current smart stats with smartctl.

Re: RN314 Disk corruption
The smart on the front end isnt displaying any errors. could there be errors that are not being displayed?
how do I SSH in? I don't really know Linux.

SMART is useful, but not everything - many drives fail without ever reporting a SMART error.
Do you have disk spindown enabled? That might slow down the test.

Then perhaps postpone that step for now.
If you purchased the NAS new between 1-June-2014 and 31-May-2016 then you have lifetime chat support at my.netgear.com. If that's the case, then it would be a good time to use it.
You could also download the log zip file (if you haven't already), and look in system.log and kernel.log for disk and btrfs errors.
