ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
I can no longer back-up my Desktop PC using ReadyShare Vault. I have a Netgear Nighthawk AC2350 (R7500) wifi router and a Western Digital My Passport 2 TB portable hard drive attached to the router. After 80-100 files, it stops with the message "Backup Engine Failed". I have no problem to back up my Laptop PC. Can someone tell me how I can get the ReadyShare Vault to work without stopping? Or suggest some troubleshooting remedies? Thank you

Re: ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
HI @stanfrench,
1. What is the firmware version of the router?
2. What version of the ReadySHARE Vault program do you have installed?
3. Is the laptop also using the ReadySHARE Vault program?
4. Is the laptop also backing up the same amount of files as the desktop?
5. What is the operating system of the laptop and the desktop?
6. Have you tried re-installing the program on the desktop?

Dexter

Re: ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
Hi Dexter,
Thanks for the reply. Here are the answers:
1. Router firmware is 1.0.0.112
2. ReadyShare Vault version is 2.0.10.100
3. Both laptop and desktop use the same router and same version of ReadyShare Vault. Both back-up to the same external hard disk which is attached to the router.
4. The laptop backs up more data than the desktop.
5. Both run Windows 10, build 1709, 64 bit.
6. Yes, tried uninstalling ReadyShare Vault on the desktop, then reinstalled but same result (backup engine failure). The desktop worked ok using the older version of ReadyShare Vault before I upgraded, but I can't find the installation package for that.
Hope that helps, tips or guidance would be appreciated.

Re: ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
Thank you Dexter, I tried that (v7.0.1.100) but same problem. It gets to about 350 items and then stops. When I open the dashboard, it still says "Backup Engine Failed". Do you know if its possble to install the lower version? I was working ok. Or I can keep trying to troubleshoot this one. Cheers.

Re: ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
The solution for me was to install an earlier version of Netgear ReadyShare Vault. But you need their assistance to get it.

Re: ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
Readyshare Vault is not working. Always says "backup engine failed." I have downloaded the lastest program and firmware for my router. I'm not sure what else I can do.

It appears to be backing up for a while andthen ends with "Backup Engine Failed".

Re: ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
Here is the link I was given that helped me solve my problem with the engine failure.
http://files.netgear-support.com/go/?a=d&i=RlgLv14wfc
Hope it works for you. I've since moved to Mac so i no longer use ReadyShare (only for Windows). I guess that permanently solved my problem...and others.

Re: ReadyShare Vault Backup Engine Failed
Sorry about that, it was last November when I got the link, so Netgear must have moved it. The person who gave it to me was John, Expert ID: 8312 of NETGEAR L2 Support Expert. If he or any of his colleagues read this, perhaps they can direct you to the current file location. Keep trying, the file does exist. Good luck!

When using Ready Share always get message "Backup Engine Failed". Any new solutions? I've tried everything that can be found in the blogs.
