Well that's a shame no Bridge mode. 

I would ask the ISP if they have methods to bridge this modem, or if they have a non router modem unit, something modem only with out a built in router. This current model modem will be problematic if you intend to use the XR router.

My current keenetic omni is a modem/router. In order to use the netgear xr500 device, do I need to use only a modem? I want to ask one more thing, what do you mean by bridging mode? can it have another name?

It would best best to have a modem or a modem/router that can run in a modem/bridge mode or have DMZ functionality. This prevents NAT issues.

Simply put, bridge/modem mode essentially just tells the router to run as a modem. This means the routing side of things is disabled.

Might factory reset the XR and walk thru the setup wizard and complete it.

Yes, I installed it with the new modem, but when I go to the Xbox network connection settings, I still get the upnp error.

You'll need to put it in passthrough mode or put the XR WAN IP in its DMZ
