Assistance: R7800 TFTP macOS
Our R7800 has become unusable. Trying to upload firmware via TFTP using the following Netgear instructions:
Anybody have suggestions. Generally receive a timeout error.
Thanks.

TFTP is a beast to get right. Too many gotchas in there.
Have you looked any of the various videos out there?
For example:
Different hardware, same approach.

Re: Assistance: R7800 TFTP macOS
I have tried that video.
The first thing that would be nice to understand is whether to attach an Ethernet cable to the R7800 at the Ethernet port (yellow) or one of the WAN ports (black).
I am assuming it should be the Ethernet port (yellow)?
If I can establish which port, then maybe I can better define my results.

Re: Assistance: R7800 TFTP macOS
Presently, I am receiving a timeout error.
Per the attached instruction set, the power light should start flashing ambet. I does not. It naturally starts as amber at power on, goes dark, comes back amber until the activity light illuminates amber and then turns white.

That looks like the R7800 is going through the usual boot sequence.
If the router ends up with a solid white power LED, that suggests that there is nothing wrong with the firmware.
TFTP should still work, without having to get it to the "start flashing amber" stage. But trying TFTP on a router with working firmware can do more harm than good. You should be able to update the firmware in the conventional way:

That might be a good start.

Re: Assistance: R7800 TFTP macOS
I cannot access the units menu. Receive an error, via browser, that server cannot be found.
The actual router does not illuminate the 2.2 and 5 GHz. status lights.
If I hook the unit up to a computer, via Ethernet/DHCP, the Network preferences show the appropriate IP numbers as if it has been reset. Router being 192.168.1.1.
If I cannot get into the router’s menu, I cannot setup my ISP credentials.

It doesn't smell like a "TFTP your firmware" issue. But it also sounds strange.
But so far we have learned not much, if anything about the router and/or your network. But we are getting a bit further than "unusable".
Go back to the beginning.
How are you going about this?
I cannot access the units menu. Receive an error, via browser, that server cannot be found.
I assume that you have it connected to a MAC PC.
How are you trying to access the units menu? A browser wired to a Mac?
For some reason, Macs are much pickier about the browser you use. Safari, the one favoured by many Mac users, is known to cause problems for some functions and even warrants warning in the Netgear manuals.
Does that "server cannot be found" message have any more detail? Is that the exact wording? Is that what you get with the wired connection?
The actual router does not illuminate the 2.2 and 5 GHz. status lights.
The classic, and most usual, reason for that is that someone has pressed the wifi on/off switch. Indeed, many people don't even know that it is a switch. But you can't blame them given Netgear's minimal labelling.
Any chance that you can get in with this address:

Re: Assistance: R7800 TFTP macOS
This all began with a power outage. I disconnected everything until the power came back on. The unit was attached to our ISP Modem via a WAN port (not DMZ). When the unit came online, there was no Wi-Fi signals. Although I was able to acess the internet via Ethernet via the unit. I was also able to access the menu. Per the menu, the WI-Fi antennas were active and on the router, the Wi-Fi light was illuminated, but the 2.2 and 5 GHz. lights were dim. Since I was having no luck getting the antennas to activate, I elected to reset the modem. After that, I could no longer acess the menu.
I have tried both Safari and Firefox.
Prompt via Safari:
Safari Cannot Open the Page: Safari cannot open the page :192.168.1.1" because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait a few minutes and then try again.
Prompt via Firefox:
Unable to connect: An error occurred during a connection to 192.168.1.1.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I am not using a firewall or proxy.

Re: Assistance: R7800 TFTP macOS
That could be the case, but I am not entirely sure. We have been having a lot of odd power outages with no discernible cause. The unit was connected to surge suppressor, that still seems to be functioning properly.
i was able to replicate that my ISP Modem/Router, to which it was connected, was not authenticating properly. It would, after losing power, only partially authenticate. It would receive proper Private IP data, but not a proper Public IP (Dynamic IP). It was retaining its pre-authentication IP. This would allow access to the Internet, but would act erratic. I was to correct this by requesting a new network logon password.
My thought is that after resetting the modem, it may have attempted to update the firmware in this confused state. That the firmware is corrupted. That is why I was attempting to reload clean firmware via TFTP.
As I mentioned, if I cannot get into the units menu, I cannot configure the unit to do much of anything.

Re: Assistance: R7800 TFTP macOS
I am making one last attempt, before declaring the unit permanently damaged, via MNRP Flash. I am presently installing BREW and then will attempt installing MNRP Flash.
Do you have any experience with MNRP Flash?
