Thank You,
Yes, R7000
FW: 1.0.9.34
This updated through Genie
Did not reboot after update
Traffic meter is enabled
Smart Connect: yes
QoS: unsure. How do I find this?
Traffic Meter WILL impact Internet Speed, turn it off unless you MUST have it, but test with it off to confirm full speed.
Some people have had Smart Connect problems... and unless you know the way the device connected you might not know what band (2.4 or 5Ghz) the device was on. One question, is the problem on both bands?
QoS had a tab on the left side to show you QoS settings.

Re: Router significantly slower than modem
Thanks,
I turned the traffic meter off and did not change anything else. Immediately my speed went to 400mbps

Why oh why does Netgear include such a traffic bottle neck in the firmware without a warning in bold all caps notice? The poor r7000 doesn't have the horsepower to handle the normal stuff like routing, network both wired and wireless plus count the traffic.

Bill, I don't know about that? Other router don't have that much 'horsepower' either.
We don't know the full load that was happening either? Constant streaming vs. just getting e-mail on 1 device.
Some routers do have more powerful CPU's, dual core, quad core, off-load processor's, and some have more available RAM. See https://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/wifi-routers/default.aspx and select some.
I'm sure under some or most conditions it might now be able to handle it, but there is no way to tell what that is? Also there are some options, like setting a warning that would further delay due to processing.
Just like other functions, like DLNA and USB Readyshare, it isn't ideal, but if it works for you, fine.
