The firmware has been broken for 6-8 months on these routers

The firmware has been broken for 6-8 months on these routers. Netgear knows about the problem but wont fix it. I lost two routers to the bug and I fixed this headache with another companys router. Don't waste your time trying to fix because it's a firmware problem. I took me several months to finally figure out why I was having trouble at Apple credit trying to pay. It never would load, DNS issues everytime. It was the router all along.

Some users mentioned that enabling IPv6 helps with the DNS issues. Seen this as well.

Something to try.

Which routers? Netgear sells dozens of different models.

My posts keep getting edited or deleted. I lost a R6700 and a R7900p because of the firmware issues. I don’t think NG has a fix at all. They patched the security vulnerability and actually broke a bunch of routers. IMO, I think they want you to buy another router and I did another brand.

Not many reports of persistent firmware problems with the R6700.

Search - NETGEAR Communities – R6700

I can't see anything there from you.

Serious problems with the R7900P.

Search - NETGEAR Communities – R7900p

But quite a few reports that people have found way around those.

Maybe you are just unlucky.

I might be unlucky but the Asus I bought to replace both of these is working flawlessly.

I had a SquareTrade plan on the R6700. I filed a claim on it and got my money back. I had to send it in though. I still have buggy R7900p, wish I’d got the ins on it also.
If anyone wants to truly see the issues with these routers I’ll be willing to send mine to you. You’ll be ready to trash it after two days. I feel like people on this board don’t believe regular people like me. I’m serious I’ll put it in the mail.

Was curious if you had ever tried enabling IPv6 on the R7900P to see if this help with DNS issues.

Asus makes good motherboards.
