Nighthawk R7000 Updated to Firmware Version: V1.0.8.34
My Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 Dual Band WIFI just updated to Firmware Version: V1.0.8.34_1.2.15. I used the process Router Update, Check for new version from the Internet.
Where can I find the release notes for V1.0.8.34?
There seems to be a new Router Auto Firmware Update option.
What is the mechanism for the auto update?
Do I get a message giving me an option when the update will occur?
Thanks
Information from ElaineM:
"We are working to rollout a new firmware with additional features for existing customers in a phased manner. Once the rollout is completed, we will make the firmware available on support site for a wider audience."

I just ran the manual Router update from Genie and my R7000 also updated to "Firmware Version V1.0.8.34_1.2.15".
I wonder what changes come with this FW other than the option to automatically update the FW.Checked my R7000 tonight and took a screen shot when checking for a firmware update. I'm tempted to update but want to see what ElaineM says regarding this latest release. Just got an email from Netgear Engineering regarding the WAN uptime status bug - hoping to work with them and find a resolution. According to the release notes listed by the upgrade utility, it appears this new firmware allows for increased analystics data - maybe this will help pinpoint some strange issues we've all been having.
- shamarinVirtuosoStrange, i have no update at all. Still only 1.0.7.12 is available.

Make a backup copy of your current settings (.cfg file) under Advanced > Backup Settings and then do a hard reset of your router. Once it's been reset and you're connected via ethernet, it should cue the FW upgrade option when you're doing the initial setup again.
Then just upload that config file and your previous settings will be back.

You wrote to me? I checked firmware updates and there is no updates on my router. Strange.
- Diggie3LuminaryThis "analytics data" sounds like spyware to me. Do I actually have a real chance to turn it off before it's sent when the router boots back up? Has anyone inspected what is actually sent vs what Netgear claims?

Model: R7000 AC1900 Dual Band WiFi router
Firmware:V1.0.8.34_1.2.15
QoS reporting is confusing with firmware version1.0.8.34.
I have QoS configured and my Genie Home page shows it disabled.
My Ooma VOIP now has jitter issues with the new Router firmware 1.08.24.QoS Configuration:

I think, as a culture, we have learned that innocent statement like this ("trust us......") have to be treated with a healthy dose of scepticism. I, for one, will not using any further firmware upgrades unless I have absolutely no option.

This firmware 1.0.8.34_1.2.15 is crap. I install it on my Nighthawk R7000 and port formwarding is breaked. QoS is malfunctionning. I have to use tftp for rollup to 1.0.7. Apoligize for my bad english please.

Did you do a factory reset before and after upgrading FW then set up from scratch using IE11 or FF? Besure to chear all broswer caches before and after loading the FW file.
If this still fails, you could try OpenRouter FW to see if this helps any.

Factory reset, clearing browser's cache, etc... After two times trying install this firmware, port forwarding is breaked. I don't install this firmware anymore. My browser is Google Chrome. I reinstall firmware 1.0.7.12 and all is ok. Fortunately, this firmware is not on the support's site.
- Retired_MemberSomething must have happened, my port forwarding pieces are working with this update along with the QOS...maybe not the same but advice from the mentor is spot on, good luck.

Maybe you can help the user with his settings to see if anything sticks out.

Neu318 Did you try factory resetting the unit?
- gxcareAspirant
Hi Elaine,
I really appreciate your support, but you should let your designers understand that resetting the unit after an upgrate should not be the normal way of handling these situations. The simple reason is that if some wrong setting is propagated from an old official release to a new one, it is design fault of Netgear which causes all of us to lose a lot of time to reconfigure our networks. You are actually avoiding design/test costs, moving the cost on your customers, which at the end will not be happy and remember this the next time they will buy a router...

- FrenchFrogAspirantWell, I try again 1.0.8.34 firmware update. Step 1 : Making firmware's parameters backup, Step 2 : Clearing browser cache, Step 3 : Revert to factory default settings, Step 4 : Upload firmware 1.0.8.34, Step 5 : After router reboot, reload saved parameters, Step 6 : Reboot router.
Finally : Success ! - LWDAspirant
I recently updated my router firmware to V1.0.8.34_1.2.15 & I received an error after the download was complete. My router status indicates I have the new firmware loaded however, since then, my download speeds have dropped by 2/3 which now is about the same as my upload speeds. How do you reload the latest firmware? Please help, thanks

Did you "factory reset"? (See above.)

Then you'll know what Netgear is inflicting on you.
